PC won’t start after component change

Hello,

I wanted to upgrade my PC by changing the processor and increasing the RAM.

However, after changing the components, the PC won't start anymore; I can't even access the BIOS, yet everything is powered on.

I've tried numerous things: clearing the CMOS, swapping the RAM sticks, reverting to the original configuration, but nothing changes, even with the old processor and RAM, the PC still won't start.

My configuration is as follows:

MSI B350M Gaming Pro motherboard
AMD Ryzen 5 1600
8GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400MHz RAM
GTX 1070

I wanted to exchange the processor for a Ryzen 7 3800X
and 16GB of Corsair 3200MHz RAM

I have no solutions; I feel like the motherboard has given out, but it's impossible to buy a new one due to COVID...

Do you have any ideas or solutions?

Hi. Maybe. You need to create a bootable key with a minimum 8GB empty USB stick from this secure link https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows10. You might need to reinstall Windows. But you'll need another PC to create a bootable USB key.

Hi,
Windows has nothing to do with it.
The PC doesn't even boot up to the UEFI, so any OS issue is out of the question, and anyway, adding RAM and changing the CPU doesn't require a reinstall.

Hi,
You're trying to install a processor that is much newer.

Although it's the same socket, the CPU is not compatible, at least with the original UEFI of the motherboard.

The addition of compatibility depends on the manufacturer's willingness, depending on whether or not they have released a BIOS update for the latest Ryzen processors, in the case of this motherboard that uses a B350 chipset needing to be updated.

You would need to reinstall your old processor, update your BIOS, pray that the manufacturer has added compatibility with the latest CPUs, and then reinsert the new one.

The latest UEFI is here for your motherboard. It's a quite recent beta version, so there's a good chance that support has been included (it should be specified in the logs on the site).

If you just changed the processor, it should work again.

Try clearing the CMOS, and put the RAM back as it was before the upgrade.
Make sure you haven't touched anything else and that everything is plugged in.

I've already done all that, what bothers me is that normally with the original configuration the PC should start or at least have access to the BIOS...

If it worked before and it's not working now with the same configuration, it’s definitely because you did something in the meantime. I’m not the one who made the changes, so I can’t provide you with more information. Check that the PC is properly assembled, and that everything is correctly wired. If the motherboard gives you a specific POST code, you can refer to it to see where it’s getting stuck.
