Gray line when scanning through the document feeder

Hello,

For some time now, my scanner (Canon MX925) has been giving me a problem when I use the document feeder: a black line appears on the scan.
If I place my document directly on the glass for scanning, the result is perfect.

I have this problem regardless of the export format (jpg, pdf, …) and the scanning software (Canon, PaperScan 3).

It happened overnight, with no software update in between.

I tried cleaning the document feeder and the glass with alcohol, but it hasn't changed anything at all; the issue doesn't seem to be physical.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

    I cleaned, re-cleaned, and cleaned the main window again without ever noticing the second window right next to it.

    Hello,

    This type of issue is not covered in the manual.
    You have cleaning advice in the manual that was installed at the same time as the printer. You can access it through the Start menu: Canon Mx920 series Manual.

    I think you might have some dirt on the scanner glass. Take a look at the small glass on the left; that’s the one that should be used by the document feeder (if I understood correctly).

    I also notice that you have a much lighter line at the very bottom of the document. This is a scanner defect: I have the same line and I haven't found a way to get rid of it. This line doesn’t appear if you scan manually on the glass.
