I can't scan from the CANON printer.

Hello everyone,
For several months now, I haven't been able to scan a photo or document directly from my CANON PIXMA MG 5250 printer, while curiously I can easily initiate the scan from the computer - We are using Windows 10 - I can print any document perfectly though. - Is this an issue with the printer itself, or an incorrect action on my part?
Can someone provide me with the "STEP BY STEP" (detailed explanations please, as I am really not good with computer language and abbreviations) so that I can finally get it done!
I would be really grateful.

Hello ....

Edit ► I read your message too quickly ... because I understood that the Scanner function directly from the printer's dashboard no longer works ... Indeed, this could be due to the printer itself ... Why? Maybe a mechanical issue with the printer that is no longer very young...?

If not, there are 2 solutions....

1► Try reinstalling the printer from the Canon website >> Here but there is a good chance that there will be no change if all the other functions of the printer are okay
2► Let Windows 10 control the scanner by creating a shortcut to the Scan option of Windows 10 on the desktop

Hello jmarion3, and thank you very much for your quick response.
I am waiting for my husband to return so I can ask him to try reinstalling the printer, as you suggested (because me and the maneuvers!...) but it is true that the printer is not recent and has been used quite a lot! Well, we'll see! (I'll give you the answer tomorrow)
Otherwise, that's what we've done; the "scan option" shortcut is indeed on the desktop and that's how I've been able to scan for quite some time now. But this little issue is annoying me!
