Hello,
my inbox on Thunderbird is almost full and my latest messages are being rejected. How can I delete a group of messages with the same subject?
Since I've been on W10, the question is no longer obvious?
Thanks for the help.
Best regards
dpl
Actually, to be clearer, I want to delete all messages coming from an address that is overloading my inbox. In the past, this operation was very simple, but today it raises questions, and I have to delete the messages one by one from this address. How should I proceed?
Thanks dpl

Hello,
Start by sorting the emails by sender by clicking on the "Correspondents" tab, then simply select the first email and hold down the "Shift" key while clicking on the last email.
All that's left is to delete them all at once by choosing "Delete" with the right mouse button on the selected emails.

Reading the responses is good... Responding afterwards, for courtesy, is better...

Thank you very much, it saves me a ton of time :)))
Good evening,
You mention, "an address that overloads my inbox."
You can make sure that this address and the emails that come from it go directly to the Trash without you having to intervene; just configure Thunderbird accordingly and the messages that will remain in your Inbox will be the ones you will read!
Best regards.

Hello dplonguet,
Nothing to do with Windows 10!
Your account is probably set up as IMAP in Thunderbird, which is synchronized with the server.
It’s not in Thunderbird that your inbox is nearly full but on your provider's server.
Your situation is likely the result of inappropriate email management, that is, leaving incoming messages in the "Inbox" folder of Thunderbird.
To never run out of space, you should view the mailbox as a temporary holding area for emails from which you should:
- Either delete messages once read
- Or organize messages by subject by moving them to an appropriate personal folder defined under "Local Folders"
Folders under Local Folders are not synchronized, so messages will be automatically deleted from the server as soon as they are no longer in the "Inbox"
If we draw a parallel with physical mail, the inbox is equivalent to the mailbox located on the street or in the building's lobby, and that’s not where you keep your received mail!
To delete multiple messages simultaneously, do as fermiparadoxx indicated: By multiple selection after sorting by the correct criteria by clicking on the column header:
- If the messages are contiguous:
Select the first one and while holding down the "Shift" key, select the last one to select everything in between, then delete
- If the messages are not contiguous:
Select the first one, then while holding down the "Ctrl" key, select each of the other emails, then delete
It’s exactly the same logic as in the Windows file explorer.
To handle “on the go” the messages that overload an account, use the filtering functions (Tools / Message Filters) offered by Thunderbird to directly delete or temporarily sort messages from certain sources.
