Hi there!
I would like to know if it's possible to disable the video output of an HDMI connection just to use the audio?
Let me explain: I have a GTX 1060 OC connected to a 4K 60 fps screen via DisplayPort.
On the audio side, I have a Yamaha amplifier that decodes Dolby True HD, but it only works via HDMI.
So I have the DP connected to the screen and HDMI to the amplifier; it works well, but I don’t want to use the HDMI video signal to avoid having an extended desktop, etc.
Is this possible?
Thank you!

Hello,
you should be able to do it with the shortcut win + P, or in display settings > advanced display settings. -
If I understand correctly, you have your screen connected directly to a DP output of your GPU and another cable connects the HDMI output of your GPU to an HDMI input of your A/V receiver. Is an HDMI output from the receiver connected to another display? What do you get then? While it is possible to separate the image and sound in some Blu-ray players that have 2 HDMI outputs, it is not possible with a GPU. It is the inverse operation that is possible: configure the output to have the image without sound and output the sound via the sound card of the motherboard. In your case, you could use this solution. That is to say, connect an audio output of the sound card to an audio input of your A/V receiver. For example, if your motherboard has an optical output, you could connect it to an optical input of your receiver.

Hi, thank you for your responses! For the win+p command, I tried it and it also disables the audio output... The amplifier is solely used for the PC and indeed it sends the video signal via HDMI but only at 30fps above 1080p and I play at 2k. As for the motherboard, it only sends 5.1 in analog (jack-rca) and in optical it stays in 2.1, so the amp doesn't connect in 5.1 analog, what a mess, lol. It'll stay like that, too bad the sound difference is so great... So I’ll just check if I don't lose performance in-game... Thank you, thank you!
