Hello,

I would like to know how to disable the famous MergeFormat or MergeField in EVERY document, and there are many (106-page document). I didn't intentionally put these codes in, and I haven't touched the Mail Merge function since my training that I completed six years ago. So, I don't know how they appeared. Certainly, I can disable them by pressing Shift + F9 (which can only remove one code at a time), but my document contains so many unnecessary hyperlinks that it would take me two or three full days to remove them all. What do you recommend I do? I have Windows 10 and Office 2016 (365).

P.S.: I also tried unchecking "field codes" in File/options/Display

The problem is that I don't have that option in Options/Display. I have the Office 365 version.

I miss WordPerfect, where I could have found the answer almost instantly thanks to the codes (like those displayed here for bold and italic).

    Hello,

    I didn't quite understand what you want to do...

    The MERGEFIELD are the merge fields. You're talking about a mail merge document; if you delete them, you no longer have a mail merge!
    Then you mention unnecessary hyperlinks... what does that have to do with the merge fields???

    Maybe it's just a display issue... If that's the case, you can press Alt+F9.
    Otherwise, try to be clearer.

      I know very well that there is no connection between hyperlinks and MergeFields. I don't understand how I ended up with this problem. Since I received an email containing your message, I replied with more details and supporting documents. You will see for yourself what I mean. A picture is worth a thousand words. I responded this way because I found no way to send you the Word documents on this page.

    M@rina, I know very well that you haven't sent me any email. It was I who chose to receive responses by email. That said, I am willing to post my comment directly on the site, but I haven't seen anything that allows me to insert a Word document (one can only insert an image), as it is very difficult to explain my problem without you seeing the document. Since I cannot send the document in question, I will reproduce the header; of course, the name is aligned to the left, the page is in the middle, and the date is to the right of the header..

    NAME {Page\*Mergeformat} DATE

    All I can say is that I find fields like those used when doing a mail merge, and today, I think I have found a clue. Indeed, I believe this problem is related to the QuickPart function. If it's a field in a header, you access it by positioning the cursor over the field you want to eliminate. A "HEADER AND FOOTER" tab appears, and there is a sub-tab called QuickPart where you can see different fields. I managed to make this code disappear, but if I close the document and reopen it, this unwanted code is still there. If you know how I can insert my documents on this site, I would appreciate you telling me how. By the way, I have already asked the admins, but I haven't received a response yet.
