Keep pinned Office files after reinstallation

Hello,

I often use the Office suite feature that allows me to pin files for quick access. These files then appear when I click on "Open" or "Ctrl + O".
My computer needs to be reinstalled, and I was wondering how I can recover my pinned file list after reinstalling Office 365 with Windows 10.
Can you help me?

Hello,

I did some digging and it seems they can be found in the registry under this path:
Pinned Files:
HKEY_USERS\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Excel\File MRU
Pinned Folders:
HKEY_USERS\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Excel\Place MRU

16.0 corresponds to the Office version. Here it's 365 or 2019
A priori, the keys for pinned items start with [F00000001], the MRUs with [F00000000]
You just need to launch Regedit and export these 2 directories from the registry as .reg
A double-click on these 2 files will re-register them for you.
It would be nice to get feedback to validate this solution if you implement it.

If you don't feel comfortable with the registry, I have another solution but it's for less than 10 files only.

By continuously trying, we eventually succeed.
So the more it fails, the more chances we have for it to work. (the Shadoks)
In addition to the thank you (yes, it happens!!!), remember to mark it as resolved. Thank you

Thank you Eriiic,
I tested it on my current computer before the reinstall and it indeed works (if I remove the registry keys, I no longer have pinned files, and when I put them back, I have my pinned files again).

I exported the "User MRU" folder and I'm waiting to test after the reinstall to give complete feedback because my path is longer than the one you provided:
HKEY_USERS\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Excel\User MRU\ADAL_"series of hexadecimal numbers"\File MRU
and the same goes for "Place MRU".

It seems convincing, thanks for the feedback :-)
Out of curiosity and to explain the difference, are you on Office 365?
2019 for me

Hello.

I don't see how that would be possible...
It would be wise to list them manually; after the reinstallation, you will open these files and pin them again.
