Windows 10 installation keeps restarting in a loop... Solved

Hello,

I bought a PC without an OS.

I installed Windows on a USB drive, booted the PC, and started the Windows installation on the PC. The computer restarted, and when it turned back on, I saw the same page as when I had started the installation earlier.

The installation keeps starting over in a loop every time.

Hello,

At that moment, you need to remove the key, otherwise you'll be stuck in a loop

(at worst, if you’re not facing that moment and the PC has booted from the key again, you can remove it forcefully and the installation will continue and finish)

I hope you haven't followed any bad tutorials and installed in legacy, CSM, or inherited mode... you shouldn't.
The installation should be done, on a recent PC, in UEFI only (no other mode to enable)

There are plenty... do you mean partitions rather than hard drives?
Maybe a basic free OS, and in that case, you would need to delete all the partitions to have just one empty volume the size of your hard drive.

Advice: it's good to unplug the HDD while installing on an SSD.
(otherwise, the installation tends to put part of the boot on the HDD)

An iso is a disk image, but don't click on it as is.
It's a resource that will help us create a USB installation stick. We need to mount this image.

Download the software Rufus:

Be careful, empty your USB stick beforehand because everything will be erased.

Bios should be set to uefi
(and nothing other than uefi, no csm or legacy or inherited mode activated)
And disable secure boot
(which will be in the boot or security tab of the bios.)
Confirm when exiting (F10 and confirmation)

(by default, uefi mode is supposed to be fine, so just disable secure boot if the PC doesn't boot from the USB stick)

Turn off the PC
Plug in the USB stick
Start
The PC should boot directly from the USB stick for installation.
If there's a problem

Here's an overview for W 10 (not really up to date but just an overview)

License key to enter if already purchased.
(or skip the step without entering anything and buy one later)

Choose pro or home depending on what you want and in relation to your license key, whether home or pro.

You start with a "custom" installation

You will follow the procedure and arrive at a table that will list the locations and ask you "where to install Windows".

At this point, different options:

> delete all partitions on both drives (in case you still have a free OS on them)
Refresh
Install on the new large volume created corresponding to the SSD, total size.

or

> You can also wipe the entire disk in command line before installing (preferred as a solution)

Press the Shift and F10 keys
(the command prompt opens)
Enter the following commands one by one, confirming with Enter:

diskpart
list disk
sel disk X (X should be replaced with the number corresponding to the hard drive you want to erase, given by the result of the previous command. But it's better to do it on both drives in your case)
clean
exit
exit

Result -
In short, we wipe the disk and you will then return to the installation table.
(refresh if needed)
You will only have two volumes. SSD that you choose to install on.

The installation proceeds.

Remove the USB stick at this restart

(if by chance it goes back to the USB stick at this point, you can remove it forcefully and the rest of the installation will continue)
