Code 43 Nvidia: Windows has stopped this device because it has problems

Hello,

I'll try to get straight to the point, and I hope your answers will be the same.

While I had no issues at the beginning of December 2018, after a Windows update (if I remember correctly), it became impossible to launch any current games without getting a maximum of 20 fps, even with the lowest graphic settings.

I have a Nvidia GTX 1050, on an Asus FX553 VD Laptop.

When I go to the Device Manager, my Nvidia graphics card displays a yellow/orange triangle. When I check its properties, I get the following message: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43)."

My PC is therefore using Intel Graphics (since my Nvidia is naturally no longer in use), which is insufficient to run any of my only games (Overwatch).

The problem likely stems from a poorly executed Windows Update that has caused this issue, or it could be due to a faulty Nvidia update (via GeForce).

I have ABSOLUTELY TRIED EVERY SOLUTION on forums, or through knowledgeable friends. I uninstalled GeForce and Nvidia, then reinstalled, nothing. I repeated the process, but this time I fetched the driver from the Nvidia website, still nothing.

I also went through the DDU software (in safe mode), followed the steps precisely with my computer-savvy uncle, and still nothing. I updated my BIOS (version 307), but still nothing.

I am 99% sure that the problem does not come from my graphics card, which is functioning perfectly (since it is still detected). I checked the BIOS, and there’s nothing to report concerning temperature or anything else.

I turn to you who might have new solutions to propose. I should mention that my knowledge in computer science is very limited, so it will be difficult for me to fully understand technical jargon.

I remain at your disposal,

Thank you in advance!

Configuration: Windows / Firefox 64.0

I have exactly the same problem
Nothing works, reinstallation, DDU in safe mode, I've really tried EVERYTHING
I'm really scared that it might be a hardware damage
But like you, by miracle it worked once and then nothing again
Do you know if it was because it was dead or what?
I mean a broken graphics card can't run games anymore, right?
If you have any other advice guys

My problem is still ongoing... I am also afraid it might be due to a hardware issue... However, that would be really surprising since my card was working very well and my laptop was very new (November 2018) before the problem occurred a month later (end of December 2018).

The times I managed to get my Nvidia graphics card working again were when everything was unplugged (mouse, headphones, power supply, other USB ports connected...) and I went into my Device Manager, right-clicked --> Uninstall the card, then right-clicked on my DESKTOP --> Search for changes. There’s a one in two chance that the card works again, but in the case of success, the PC crashes while playing (either 5 minutes later or 1 hour later, it varies).

I think I will go get my graphics card replaced soon due to hardware failure, even though I am convinced there is a Windows issue.
