Lexmark CX517de Printer

Solved

Hello,
I just bought myself a wonderful Lexmark CX517de printer. Unfortunately! I can't get it to work and I can't find any explanation in the thick and incomprehensible manual. I want to scan a document to my computer, but nothing happens.
I printed the printer report which says: "not connected".
I connected it with a standard printer cable (square end on one side and USB on the other).
I can't figure out where the problem comes from.
Can anyone help me?
I thank whoever can assist me.

    Hi,

Have you installed the driver for your printer on your PC? If not, please install it. You can find it here:

    See you later =)

      Hello,
Thank you for the information. I have installed and uninstalled the driver several times, but I think there is a specific order to do it and turn on the printer. I must not have done it in the right order. But oh miracle, after several hours it works. However, I am very disappointed. It only scans in JPG or TIF. I also wanted PDF. For a machine at that price, it's a bit average. Thanks again for the help.

      Hello,
Thank you for all this information, but it doesn't help me. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and each time the options are different, but what doesn't change is that I always have only 4 choices: tif, bmp, png, and jpg. I tried to modify or add scanning profiles, but I have no choice, just these 4.
Is a driver missing? It's a bit annoying to struggle like this with a printer.
      Thanks for the help.

    Hi

Do you connect your printer via USB?

If so, when you install the driver, do you do it with the USB cable unplugged?

What is the OS of your PC? (W7/W8.1, etc...) is it 32 or 64 bits? >> https://www.commentcamarche.net/informatique/windows/169-32-bits-ou-64-bits-comment-savoir/

    See you later

      Hello Billmaxime,
Thank you for your solution, but I just found it. I installed and uninstalled the driver several times, exactly as it should be done. Only connect the printer when prompted, but each time what was installed was different. However, this time a tab appeared in the taskbar "printer home" and all the scanner functions are there. It's really amazing!
Thanks again for your advice, I can finally scan to PDF.

      Hello,
To connect the printer, you need to install the driver using the disc, then turn it on and plug it into the computer, which will detect it, but not the other way around. Also, make sure that the "Lexmark printer home" icon is in the taskbar, otherwise scanning to PDF will be impossible. It only scans images (jpg, bmp). I had to install and uninstall several times before it worked. Good luck.
