Hello, I want to partition my drive to install a second OS alongside it, but when I go to "shrink the volume" in disk management, an error message appears saying "The volume you have chosen to shrink may be damaged. Use Chkdsk to resolve this issue, then try to shrink the volume again." If anyone knows how to fix this problem, I thank you!

Hello,
The partition is damaged, so run checkdisk as indicated.
Use the search field in Windows 10.
Type "cmd", right-click on cmd.exe and select "Run as Administrator"
In the command prompt window that opens, type chkdsk X: /F /R
Press the enter key, it will ask if you want to do this on restart, type y (yes), press enter and restart, upon restarting a blue screen will appear with "step 1 of 5"..., this is normal! And it will remain so step by step for 1 or 2 hours. It's long but necessary to perform all checks.
Replace X: with the drive letter causing this error.

First, check the hard drive: How to check the health of the hard drive
For example with CrystalDiskInfo.
In this one, ensure that all drives are blue "correct".
