Hello,

So here it is, I have a laptop (an Acer Swift 3 SF314-52 series) and it has a USB-C port.
I use it to connect a USB-C to Ethernet adapter when I need to connect to a wired network.
And my question is: Can I charge my laptop through this port?
Can I connect an external battery to this port?
Or is it absolutely not advisable?

Thank you!

    Hello,

You can only charge the laptop via USB-C if it complies with a standard for Power Delivery and if this USB-C port serves as a charging connector.

If this is not the case, it will not charge. Worse, you could damage the port and the connector.

Great, thanks! I’ll check the manual then ^^
And if I don’t find anything, I’ll avoid connecting it!

No need to read it, if your computer has a different charging connector, it means USB-C is not intended for it.

If there is no charging connector and just a USB-C (like in the case of MacBooks), then you can charge through it.

Oh well, that's not planned x)

And would I be able to find a power adapter from the laptop to USB to connect an external battery?

Little chance. The USB protocol is not designed to transmit large amounts of electrical power. 2-3A maximum. Much less than what the PC needs from the charger.

You need to find a suitable external battery, but there's little chance that it will be effective and efficient. You'll have a better chance of carrying the charger and charging it when you can...
