Laptop that shuts down when I unplug the charger

Hello,

I have a VAIO VPCSB4L1E running on Windows 7. It was working fine until yesterday. I unplugged the charger and it suddenly shut down, even though the battery is charged to 69%. It works when connected to the power supply but the battery charge remains stuck. When I check the wear state of my battery using the command prompt or software, I see about 10% wear, so there is little chance that the battery is dead... (the computer was purchased a year ago). Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Thank you in advance

Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 31.0.1650.63

Hello.
Have you tried the manipulations I advised you to do?
Sometimes, the battery can be good, and the charger too, but it may be that the power management controller is not working properly.
So, it's worth trying before changing the battery:
1/ turn off the computer
2/ unplug the charger
3/ remove the battery
4/ press and hold the power button (switch) of the computer for at least 30 seconds
5/ put the battery back
6/ plug the charger back in
try the computer again
=>>> if the computer is just a year old, check if your warranty is still valid (warranty extension ....)

Good point Monstrinfo

to try before doing "formatting and system restorations" as we often see! And which cause more problems than anything else... +1

I’m also looking for a solution; I'm having the same issue on Windows 10.
