Installing 2 different Nvidia graphics cards in the same PC

Can I put 2 different Nvidia cards in the same PC?
I have an i7 7700k and the cards are:
GTX 1060 6GB
GTX 1070 8GB
I do 3D and gaming. Is it worth it?
Currently, the 1060 is in the basement mining cryptocurrencies, but I would like to use it for rendering.

    Hello,

    Yes, on the same PC without a doubt, but for SLI it gets complicated.

    According to SLI rules, the GPU must be at least the same model (here GTX1060 is fine).

    Ideally, the cards should be completely identical (same manufacturer, same amount of VRAM, etc.) because some cards are overclocked and others are not.

    In practice, however, NVidia drivers accept slightly different models.

      No, because only the GTX 1070 and 1080 (along with their TI counterparts) are capable of handling an SLI.

      Moreover, you absolutely need two identical chips... otherwise, it doesn’t work at all with Nvidia. Not as forgiving as AMD's CrossFire.

      It's true, no SLI connector on the 1060...
      So the GTX 1060 can stay in the basement.

      No, but their power will not be combined without SLI and they will operate independently from each other.
