Hello everyone,

how to install a .pkg file?

The system is Ubuntu 16.04. I created the .pkg file from the ISO image of a .DMG file.

Does anyone know the (or the) command(s) to execute in the terminal?

Thank you in advance for your solutions or ideas!...

Best regards,

Tom@

Configuration: OVH server

Hello,
I created the .PKG file from the "ISO" image of a .DMG file.
Can we know the name of this
.dmg
please? Just to avoid reinventing the wheel in case there is already an equivalent…

Yes, it's the software "Tomtom Home" for GPS and for MacOS. The name is TomTomHOME2maclatest.dmg.
It might be a bit original to want to do this with Tomtom Home. But, I prefer Ubuntu as an operating system.
Thank you for your response...

The exact name of the file is MacLatest.pkg.
I mounted it in /media/TomTomHOME2maclatest .

Hi everyone,
The goal was to get the TomTom Home software for MacOS to work on Ubuntu.
It seems that the procedure allows obtaining the program components. However, I can't do anything with them.
In the end, the program cannot be installed!
Indeed, after creating the MacLatest.pkg from the "ISO" image of TomTomHOME2maclatest.DMG (MacOS),
I used the software xar-1.5.2.tar.gz, then alien.

This is the final result of the procedure that you will find just after:

# ls tomtomlaster-xar/
Distribution Resources tthome.pkg

# ls tomtomlaster-xar/tthome.pkg/
Bom PackageInfo Payload Scripts

 # ls -ail tomtomlaster-xar/tthome.pkg/
total 40692
11206685 drwx------ 2 ss:ss 4096 date HH .
11206684 drwxr-xr-x 4 ss:ss 4096 date HH ..
11157187 -rw-r--r-- 1 ss:ss 175100 date HH Bom
11157519 -rw-r--r-- 1 ss:ss 1049 date HH PackageInfo
11157517 -rw-r--r-- 1 ss:ss 41472536 date HH Payload
11157518 -rw-r--r-- 1 ss::ss 1763 date HH Scripts

With this, it seems to me that nothing else can be done!

Forgive the lack of details.

I don't know if there's anything to add / It seems that we can't go any further.

I don't know how to solve this problem.
However, has it been resolved?
