For some time now, I find it increasingly difficult to write a sentence; it’s already a struggle to write these words to you (my text has already erased itself once). First of all, my cursor (the arrow) moves anywhere and anytime in the text, continuing my words wherever it lands if I'm not looking. Then, and this is worse, a word or the entire text gets highlighted and erased at the next keystroke, without me having the time to react; this has happened several times since the beginning of this message. I have to write very slowly and it’s unbearable. Can someone help me? Thank you in advance.

Here you go, following your advice, I installed the latest version of Google Chrome, then I cleaned it with ResetBrowser, and then with AdwCleaner, but nothing works. The problem is still there. I'm hesitant to uninstall and reinstall Google Chrome; it seems quite tricky, and I prefer to do it with someone a bit more experienced. I'm worried about making a mistake on my end.
Thank you for your valuable advice, and I'll keep you updated on what happens next.

See also the keyboard options in the Control Panel
Check for a touchpad driver version if available on the manufacturer's site or update it directly with Device Manager (or roll back to the previous version)
Use DriversCloud
also to see which drivers need updating
In the Control Panel, check if you can see the touchpad (the name may change like Synaptics)
Look and post a screenshot of the settings
Do you have the issue only with Google Chrome when you type?
System Restore
Do you have a system restore point from a date before the problem?

The issue is ubiquitous, whether I'm writing like right now, when I'm in the search engine, or when I send an email in word processing... basically, as soon as I write. Just in these 3 lines, my cursor has moved several times and words are being deleted, which I have to retype... when it's not the entire text.

Hello,
What version of Windows do you have?
What extensions have you installed, if any?
Check and update Google Chrome
You have version →
The latest version → Version 66.0.3359.170 (Official Build)
Go to the small dots located on the right side of the page → Help → About Google Chrome
Restart Google Chrome
Then test
Possible infection:
-Run ResetBrowser
-Also run AdwCleaner
Scan and then perform the repairs
Once the PC is rebooted, a report will appear on the Desktop as a .text file that you can open with Notepad
You can post the report using cjoint
Uninstall and reinstall Google Chrome if nothing concrete
Export your bookmarks from Google Chrome as this
After that, uninstall Chrome using Revo
At the scan stage, check → full scan
Once the PC is rebooted, show hidden folders and files as this
- Delete the following folders:
C: \ Users \ username \ AppData \ Local \ Google
C: \ Users \ username \ AppData \ Roaming \ Google
C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Google
Cache the hidden folders and files again
Download and install the browser Google Chrome
Try again

Hello,
If the problem only concerns Google Chrome (not word processors or others), you will indeed need to completely uninstall Chrome.
To avoid being left without a browser, install Firefox (or another one).
https://www.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/new/
You will also be able to see if your problem persists with Firefox.

Hi Pierr10,
Without installing Firefox, Internet Explorer is already present in Windows 7 for testing.

The PC may have fallen and the hard drive damaged
Check with CrystalDiskInfo
The graphics card may also be damaged or overheating.
Also check in the device manager if there are any question marks
But also check in the task manager or resource monitor the hard drive activity, the % (it shouldn't exceed 10 or 20 %)

What is the exact brand of your PC to check and possibly find a driver if that is the cause?

So, maybe the problem is solved; I'll see by writing this message. I went to check how to find the famous touchpad function, so fn + F6, and it seems to be better.
The brand of my PC is Packard Bell Easy Note TK. Not exactly brand new, but it works pretty well, well, before this. Ah, I think it's starting to act up again. It just gave me another sign of its poor cooperation... well, I don't know what to say, I guess the touchpad isn't the problem.

Missing numbers after tk
Check here
It's to see the drivers for your PC on the packardbell site.

There are drivers for your PC, probably original drivers given the dates
However, we need to know if your PC is 32 or 64 Bits
We can find your Elantech Touchpad driver in case you need to uninstall it, better to have it handy, sorry on the Desktop
Actually, there are 2 drivers
- Elantech Touchpad
- Synaptics Touchpad
In the image of a 64-bit version here
A detection with DriversCloud
would allow us to know if a more recent version exists.
To be continued...

Have you restarted the PC after the fn + F6 operation?
Do you have any alerts in the device manager → exclamation points
Check the disk activity because if it's too high, it might indicate a virus
Resource Monitor
Start button → then Search, type → resmon and hit Enter
This is to rule out the possibility of an infection
You should normally have the touchpad shortcut next to the clock or in the notification area to check the settings
Additionally, it launches at PC startup
What does it show if you have a mouse on hand? Same issue?

Well, great humor nonetheless!!! What a chore for you to write a letter/a note if the cursor is going all over the place
It might be interesting to run Malwarebytes to see what it finds
You can even run it in safe mode (hit F8 on startup)
→ try writing in Notepad for example or see how your cursor reacts in that mode
Don't forget to uninstall Malwarebytes afterwards
Keep the report; you can post it if you want (beware, it might be long)
With cjoint for example
If the problem persists, we should explore other avenues
- Graphics card, among other things
- A component issue like a fan...
Since when and how did the problem arise?
- update?
- a software you installed?
- Other?
For system restore to a previous date, it doesn't hurt to try, basically you'll lose 30 minutes at most
The procedure is on this page

I've run Malwarebytes several times, and it doesn't find anything. But it's not just a problem with the cursor that I can't control; there's also the issue of words or texts disappearing (always highlighting first, although that hasn't happened while writing this message, which might be a sign). I would need to write for a longer time to verify properly... in any case, for now, just the cursor!!!
As for what you recommend I do, I'll do it tomorrow; I'm a bit fed up right now.
Thank you for your help, really, and for the time you must be spending to find a solution. It's a nice surprise. Well, the sentence just highlighted itself, so that's not resolved either, pffff. Thanks "pistouri" and see you tomorrow.

I'm a bit jaded right now.
Jaded in the feminine, no doubt a lady if there's no mistake
You can't be the only one, the Forum offers you a ton of solutions to get you out of this bad situation.
Take the opportunity to do a disk cleanup if you haven't cleaned the PC
In the video here
Good evening.

I can't find a smiley but I'm still smiling. I'm not a lady, definitely not in the way you imagine.
I'll get back to you tomorrow. Have a good evening.

Hello again, Pistouri. Following your advice, I've just cleaned the disk. How can I check if my PC is 32 or 64 bits? By the way, I feel like my problem is less severe. In fact, I managed to write these few sentences without the words highlighting and disappearing, and if that part of the problem is fixed, that's already a victory, the most important one, in fact. My cursor keeps jumping though... I'm sure it's less serious, but there you go!!?? I'm trying pressing the fn f6 keys again.

Hi marugo0824,
32 or 64 bits - How to know?
Check the CCM sheet here
In summary for you:
If you have the Computer icon on the Desktop
Right-click on Computer → Properties
Look next to the line → System type

Check the CCM sheet here
In summary for you:
Under Windows 7 and earlier:
click on the Start button;
go to Control Panel;
then to System and Security;
go to System;
under System, you can clearly and explicitly know the system type: 32 or 64 bits. If nothing is written, you are most likely on 32 bits

Hello again,
I followed your good advice once again, so it's 64 bits. I cleaned up the disk and downloaded TempFileCleaner. I think the problem is unfortunately elsewhere because while writing these words, everything starts again—crazy cursor and words getting highlighted. I don’t know what else to say, except a big thank you for your help and your great advice. I’ve learned quite a bit in the end...

Hi marugo0824,
Can you tell us what starts when the PC boots up?
Check with msconfig → Startup tab
Follow this tutorial
You never know, a software or something else might be conflicting
Post a screenshot like this
You didn't say how the problem occurred
-At startup of the PC?
-While browsing?
-After an update (is Windows Update up to date?)
-Installation of a software
Check the hard drive with CrystalDiskInfo as indicated in message 12
Have you explored the system restore option?
Anyway, please provide all possible details and answer the questions asked, please
See you soon

Here, to start, in the search bar of msconfig, it says no items match your search, maybe another name on my PC?
I don’t know when this problem started, but about a month, maybe 2. At first, it was fine, then it happened more often (a word just got erased that I had to retype, and that cursor jumping away too...).
The problem occurs as soon as I type text, whether in the search engine, email, or anything that requires me to write (just now the whole sentence got highlighted, it would have been erased on the next keystroke if I typed fast).
Nothing seems abnormal at startup, except that I find it a bit slow.
I haven’t installed any software recently, other than the ones you recommended for cleaning or other purposes.
I'm hesitant to do a system restore, I'm afraid of losing data, I’m not very sure about that.
I'll check for Windows Update and verify the hard drive.
See you later!

It's not msconf but →msconfig
Autoruns allows you to see the startup entries here
Although not too easy to use, I suggest Revo
It's an uninstaller but it has other tricks up its sleeve, including a startup manager
From there we could check the entries and with a screenshot of everything installed on your PC to get an idea
Now I'm not saying, but a component might be starting to fail like the graphics card for example
since the PC isn't that young anymore
Provide the CrystalDiskInfo report
-Good
-Fair
-Bad

Thank you, pistouri. As I told gugu, I'm dropping it for now. I’ll be working all weekend and taking a break. And the empirical problem is, I can't seem to write these lines without correcting almost every second, and the words are disappearing again. I'll get back to you on Monday. Thank you and me

The erratic movement of the cursor is almost always related to the touchpad (that's what you read in all the forums and that's also my personal experience). That's why I suggested you disable it.
However, I have no explanation for the fact that the text can highlight by itself. You can try cleaning your keyboard (with a vacuum), but I don't really believe that will help.
I bought 2 keyboards on Amazon; the problem is still not resolved; the keys are still fading; what lousy equipment from Amazon. What to do!
