Hello, my EDENWOOD smart TV (I know it’s low-end!) connected via Wi-Fi with my computer plays some MKV or MP4 files but not others, even though they come from the same source and are the same size. Any ideas?

Hello,
MKV, MP4, AVI, WMV, etc.: these are just container files.
To put it simply, they are envelopes that contain the (or multiple...) video stream and the audio stream identified by codecs.
Your problem likely lies with the codecs... unless it could perhaps be an issue with your WiFi connection speed causing the "large" files not to go through.
My suggestion is to re-encode (convert) the files that are not working with the same characteristics as those that are playable. To help you understand how your files are constructed, you can use MediaInfo, for example.
If, despite everything, some files are similar (same codecs, same resolution, same bitrate or others), then I don't know why you are having issues reading certain files /
Best regards

Thank you Ziggourat, but I am in the last case. It's a complete TV series and I can watch everything without any problem on my computers using VLC, WMP, etc. - even on my old media box on another TV. It's just curiosity and laziness to connect my laptop to the TV every time; my "smart TV" is less smart than it should be. But if you buy the cheapest...
