Hello,
I downloaded high definition movies (1080p and 720p) and they are in MKV format.
To start, I transferred these movies to my external hard drive which I connected to the TV to be able to play them. However, they are not recognized. To address this, I have a conversion software (FormatFactory) and I converted my MKV movies to AVI. I tried again to play them on my TV from the external hard drive; the TV can detect the movies but cannot play them. So I don't understand why.
Do you have a solution?
Thank you in advance.
Romain.

Hello!
Some TVs read MKV natively, others do not. Check the user manual.
And if it doesn’t, then transcoding is not a good solution, because it almost always leads to a loss of quality. The best solution is to use a media player that natively reads MKV. For example, a multimedia HDD, or a media center, or a Blu-ray player, or... there are plenty of possible solutions. Just make sure to check before purchasing that it supports as many formats as possible.
