Hello,
Recently I wanted to free up some space on my C:\ drive and I tried to move the Chrome files to my D:\ drive... Obviously, that didn't work, so I decided to uninstall Chrome using the program uninstaller on my computer. However, when I re-download Chrome from the official site, the installer keeps giving me the following error message: "Failed to decompress the archive by the installer. Please download Chrome again."
Thank you for taking the time to read my message,
Please respond to me as soon as possible because I can't work without Chrome.

    Hello,

It's possible that the path to the temporary folder is incorrect.
    Check this: https://www.malekal.com/changer-deplacer-dossier-temporaire-windows/
Make sure that the TEMP and TMP variables point to an existing folder.

Thank you for the information, but I just checked and the TMP variable is indeed in an existing folder.

    To see:

Follow the FRST tutorial. ( take the time to read carefully - everything is well explained ).

Download and run the FRST scan,
Wait for the scan to finish, a message will indicate that the analysis is complete.

Three FRST reports will be generated:
    • FRST.txt
    • Shortcut.txt
    • Additionnal.txt

Send these 3 reports to the site https://pjjoint.malekal.com/ to share them.
In return, provide the 3 pjjoint links leading to the reports here in a new response so that we can consult them.

    Two antivirus installed..

You have programs that were installed when you purchased the computer or installed later that may not be useful.
They clutter Windows and can slow it down.
    You can therefore uninstall them.
    Go to the Control Panel
    then programs and features.
    Uninstall:

    CCleaner
    Glary Utilities
    McAfee Internet Security
    McAfee WebAdvisor
    Web Companion

PS: CCleaner is not really useful, even though it is recommended everywhere.
If you want to keep it, disable CCleaner monitoring, unnecessary, as it starts up with Windows and slows it down with its incessant cleanings, see: https://www.malekal.com/supprimer-ccleaner-demarrage-windows/

    Test with Avast! also disabled.

I don't really understand where you're coming from:
First, I don't have any viruses installed as you say "two antivirus programs installed"
Second, I don't see the point in uninstalling an antivirus
Third, what does that have to do with my installation error with Google Chrome?

Having two antivirus installed causes slowdowns and crashes.
        It's not indicated at all.

Web Companion is a potentially unwanted program.
        See: https://www.malekal.com/supprimer-adaware-web-companion/

It's for the health of your computer; if you don't care, that's fine.

Alright, I'm going to see if I can uninstall one or two, but as for the original problem, which is installing Chrome, what should I do?

After cleaning, test with Avast! disabled.

After uninstalling Avast and restarting my computer, I finally managed to install Chrome. Thank you very much for your help!

You're welcome, and avoid having two antivirus programs in the future; it causes chaos.
