Hello everyone,

This weekend I built my gaming computer, I installed an old graphics card that worked very well before, but since I've put it in my new PC, I've been getting small pink and blue squares appearing on the desktop and in applications. When I'm in the Paint software and I select an area, it gets worse. I hope someone can help me and that it’s not too serious.

Thank you for your response.

!!! STOP USING THE GRAPHICS CARD until you have fixed the problem !!!

The GPU of the graphics card is overheating due to aging thermal paste.
You need to dismantle the card's heatsink, clean it, apply new thermal paste, and then reassemble the heatsink correctly before reconnecting everything.

The display issues you see on the screen are called graphical artifacts, and they are a typical symptom of GPU overheating.

Because manuals don't tell you everything...
But they don't tell you nothing either, you know!

I removed it, anyway I’m not using my computer for now. Thank you very much for your quick response. I will change that.

Hi Erwan, I cleaned and changed the thermal paste + removed all the dust. I reconnected the card, but the problem persists with moments when I have a black screen. https://i.imgur.com/4gqu2IQ.png

I fear that the graphics card is too damaged... and that it will cost more to repair it than to buy a new one.

Hi, have you tried connecting your monitor to your motherboard?

I tried and I have no problem, but I'm worried about turning on my graphics card and that there might be an issue.

otherwise change the PCI express slot if you have 2 and uninstall all the drivers
