Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro, and it doesn't detect my smartphone (Honor 8) when connected via USB, although it does charge it.

I have downloaded Android File Manager, my phone is in MTP mode, and the USB cable works perfectly. On my previous MacBook Air, Android File Transfer detected my phone just fine...

The Mac is updated to the latest version, as is the phone, so I wonder if the USB ports on the Mac are functional, but I don't know how to check that.

I would really like to synchronize my files, can anyone lend a hand?
If you need any info, just let me know, I'm getting desperate.

Thank you!

Good evening,

Try SyncMate

When it's urgent, it's already too late (Talleyrand)
When everything has failed, read the manual ;)

Hello and thank you for your response.

I tried Syncmate, enabled USB debug mode, but the smartphone is still stuck charging, no connection prompt.

For your information, the Mac is a Retina mid-2014, and there’s no problem reading USB drives.

And the issue isn’t with the phone, it works perfectly on another Mac or PC.

Hello,

If you have a USB flash drive or if you have a friend who can lend you one, plug it into a port and see if it shows up on the desktop, with Finder preferences set correctly for that. Or you can launch Disk Utility and if you see it, that means the USB port is working.

After a few (not to say many) restarts of the PC and the phone, the utility opened and worked smoothly, problem solved.

Thanks for your help, dede!

Are you thinking about optimizing your Mac from time to time, with Onyx, for example?

Onyx
You need to download Onyx according to your OS, here:

https://www.titanium-software.fr/en/onyx.html

After installation,
Launch Onyx and follow Francis's good advice.
-Let it check the SMART status of the hard drive and the volume structure (note: this operation cannot be performed if the hard drive is not journaled)
-then give it the password when it asks
-next click on the "Automation" button?
-check all the boxes except "Show folder contents"
-click on "Execute"
-Restart the Mac

Note: the first boot after running Onyx is a bit slow, that's normal, the following ones will be normal.
