VHS playback, sound but no picture (snow)
Solved
Good evening everyone!
I've been trying to watch VHS tapes for 3 days now, I've scoured all the forums and still can't find a solution, maybe you could help me?
Earlier this week, I bought a second-hand Philips VR620 VCR from a charity. We tested it with one of my VHS tapes on-site with a small LCD screen, and it worked well, with decent picture and sound.
At home, I initially set it up on my LG TV using a SCART cable, I had sound from the VHS but the screen was black with "no signal" displayed.
I (on a whim) tried with a male-female coaxial cable, RCA cables, and even a SCART/RCA adapter, but still the same problem.
I provided myself with a small Philips cathode TV in perfect working order, it only has one SCART socket, and I get sound and static.
Out of doubt, I cleaned the playback heads, but that didn't change anything (I remind you that this same VCR worked perfectly two days ago).
I am definitely on the AV channel and there is only one.
What's strange is that when I start the VCR, a white screen shows up with a bar indicating the remaining time on the VHS (these are actually old VHS-C family tapes in a VHS-C/VHS adapter).
Thanks for your help if this rings a bell!
Have a good evening ;)
