Hello,
My internet connection keeps dropping regularly. Each time, I have to fix the problems or reconnect manually. Windows 10 help advises me to reset the network card. I don't know what that means. I found the steps to do it, but I'm hesitant... Can I go ahead with confidence?
I should mention that I don't have very good ADSL (about 2 megabytes) and that the PC is connected via Wi-Fi from a Wi-Fi extender.
Thank you for your help.

Hi,

No, it’s not a problem.
You can do it, check here for help: https://www.malekal.com/windows-10-reinitialiser-le-reseau/
but I doubt that it will solve your issues.

To get information about the Wifi connection.
Open a command prompt: https://www.malekal.com/ouvrir-invite-de-commandes-windows10/
type:
netsh wlan show interfaces

post the content here.

Hi Malekal, I'm experiencing a similar issue and was looking for information on resetting network cards when I came across this post.
My PC is connected via Wi-Fi, it works fine until I try to launch something that requires a certain bandwidth, like an online game for example. My PC disconnects (the limited connection icon appears for a few seconds) and then it says there is no internet (even though there is, since other devices are connected to Wi-Fi in my home and have no issues), my box disappears from the available box list then reappears but we can see in the list that there is no network and it's impossible to reconnect to my box or any other network. I performed the operation you mentioned and here's the result:

Name: WiFi
Description: Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter
Guid: edbeefea-1b82-4c20-8e0f-f28d8e6629bf
Physical Address: 6c:71:d9:18:24:d1
Status: connected
SSID: (Wi-Fi network name)
BSSID: e4-9e:12:7a:cb:b2
Network Type: Infrastructure
Radio Type: 802.11n
Authentication: WPA-Personal
Encryption: CCMP
Connection Mode: Profile
Channel: 11
Reception: 72.2 Mbits/s
Transmission: 72.2 Mbits/s
Signal: 88%
Profile: (Wi-Fi network name)
Hosted Network Status: Not available

Do you have any idea what I could do to remedy this problem?

Your card is known to have issues on Windows 10.
See: https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-33940807-central-deconnexion-wifi-depuis-maj-windows-10-atheros-asus#1

Knowing that on this subject, it seems these cards are poorly mounted on some computer models: https://h30478.www3.hp.com/t5/Archives-Ordinateurs-Bureau-Moniteurs-Lecture-Seulement/Wifi-tr%C3%A8s-instable-avec-carte-Atheros-AR9485-sur-un-Pavilion/td-p/472423

So try different drivers and see how it performs.
Since the Windows 10 update 1709, many connection issues.

Ok, I'll check that out, test other drivers, and see how it goes. I'll come back to give the result later. Thanks for your help, anyway.

Here you go, after testing all possible and imaginable types of resets, reinstalling the driver 10.0.0.321 for the Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 wireless network card solved the problem.

I haven't experienced any more Wi-Fi drops on my PC, nor has the name of my box disappeared from the list; I can finally use my PC as before.

Thank you, Malekal, for your valuable help.
