Hello everyone,
So here it is, I have an Asus PC with Windows 8.1 and it has been very slow for a long time. I wanted to restore it to factory defaults, and it's impossible because I can't access the PC settings.
I searched on quite a few forums that talked about this, but none of the proposed solutions work, or I can't manage to implement them with my low computer skills..
Would you have a solution for me?
Thanks in advance !!

Hi there,
where does it block?
What exactly happens?
Are you following this procedure to reset Windows 8?
=> How to reset Windows 8.
For slowness, you can check the computer:
Install "Real Temp" or "Core Temp" to Monitor the computer temperature.
See what the computer’s temperature reaches during use. It should not exceed 60 degrees Celsius. If possible, attach a screenshot from the software to the message.
First check the hard drive: How to check the hard drive health
For example with CrystalDiskInfo.
Follow the FRST tutorial. ( take the time to read carefully – everything is explained there ).
Download and run the FRST scan,
Wait for the scan to finish, a message will indicate that the analysis is complete.
Three FRST reports will be generated:- FRST.txt
- Shortcut.txt
- Additionnal.txt
Send these 3 reports on the site https://pjjoint.malekal.com/ to share them.
In reply, provide the 3 pjjoint links that lead to the reports here in a new response so we can view them.
Reinstall Windows 8:
Another option is you can directly reinstall Windows 8.
But it might be a bit more complex.
Follow this tutorial that explains how to install Windows 8: how to install Windows 8.
All steps are given from A to Z with tips at the end to secure Windows 8.
The steps are basically:
- Download the Windows 8 installation ISO: https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows8
- Prepare installation media on USB key or DVD. It’s better to use Rufus: how to download Rufus - see this tutorial for details: how to create a Windows installation USB
- Boot from it by changing the boot order and selecting the USB or DVD
- Let yourself be guided to install Windows 8.
- During the partitioning phase, select the system partition and format it.
- Proceed with the installation on this system partition.
- Select the main partition
- format it and follow the instructions and the tutorial to reinstall Windows 8.
