The reason why some connections frequently drop is actually very simple once you understand how the distribution points work.
The problem does not come from the line but from the TECHNICIAN who manipulates the cards of the DSLAM (512, 1024, 2048, 5096KB,...) located inside the technical room of your local distribution point.
Sometimes, these people may mistakenly insert a 2048 card into a slot that can only support up to 1024 during some maintenance work. As a result, officially you are on 1024, but in reality, the line is constantly dropping because the assigned card is unsuitable for your line. This leads to a real communication breakdown with the "Hotline" to get your point across, especially with that of FREE, which systematically "downgrades" you to 512kB. I have been a victim of this type of maneuver several times and I am afraid I will have to bear the consequences again soon unless the technicians from Orange intervene more.
