Hello,

I bought a PC with an i7, 8GB of RAM, etc., and it is running WIN 10 - 10240. The WIN 10 upgrade assistant downloads the latest version of WIN 10 (15063), but during the installation, at some point, it says "reverting to a previous version of Windows."
I don’t understand... I’ve tried several things, but nothing worked...
I implore your help... x)

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 60.0.3112.90

    Hello,

How is it: "reinstallation of a previous version of Windows"?

If you have a Windows.old folder, that's normal.

The exact term is "Restoring a previous version of Windows." This happens when the installation is about halfway through. After that, Windows restarts normally, and all my files, etc., are present, and the Windows update assistant downloads the famous version of Windows (15063), then it reboots and starts the installation again, and it fails in an endless loop. :'(

    Otherwise, I don't have a win.old folder, but I have one called "Windows10update" in C:

I don't know if this will help you, but if you have even a small idea of what's going on, I'm all ears!!! :D

I have Windows Defender as antivirus, I haven't downloaded anything on that side, I thought it was doing a good job?!

I do have the files. The setupac in the Panther was impossible to upload to the site, so I uploaded it elsewhere. It seems to be available for only three days, so I hope you'll see the message before haha.

    C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Rollback
    setupac: https://pjjoint.malekal.com/files.php?id=20170811_r11z8u6l5x7
    setuperr: https://pjjoint.malekal.com/files.php?id=20170811_s12s5b611v14

    C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther
    setupac: https://www.catupload.com/download/f479fcd7cb81570ba5a8cc66b80cc7eb.html

    setuperr: https://pjjoint.malekal.com/files.php?id=20170812_v7p10p11j5n14

Here’s a big thank you in advance for the research and all that :)
(And also Windows created a new user "user" without asking me or anything...)

You should delete this user: Defaultuser0.DESKTOP-1G8C1R2
If this is your current user (I doubt it given the name) you should create a new administrator user.

You can do this from netplwiz:
    Press Windows + R
    type netplwiz and OK.
    and try the update again.

If not better, it is better to reinstall Windows 10, you will have the latest version:

Follow this tutorial which explains how to install Windows 10: how to install Windows 10.
All steps are provided from A to Z with advice at the end to secure Windows 10.

    The steps are basically:

    - You download the Windows 10 installation ISO: https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows10 (other download methods: https://www.malekal.com/telecharger-iso-windows/ ).
    - Create the installation media with Media Creation Tool
    - Boot from it by modifying the boot sequence and indicating the USB key or the DVD: How to boot the computer from USB key
If the key does not work, try recreating it with Rufus: how to download Rufus - see this tutorial for details: how to create a Windows installation USB key
    - Let yourself be guided to install Windows 10.
    - Choose customize (not upgrade)
    - During the partition phase, select the system partition and format it.
    - Proceed with the installation on this system partition.
    - Select the main partition
    - The installer will tell you that Windows is already present and offer to move it.
    Do not format.

Your user data will be copied into a sub-folder of https://www.malekal.com/le-dossier-windows-old/.

Once Windows is installed, I recommend following these tips to properly configure and use Windows: Tips after reinstalling Windows.

Please press any key to continue the disinfection...

    Hello there,

Sorry for the pretty monstrous delay in response, I went on vacation.
I tried everything you told me, and what worked was to completely reinstall Windows. Even though there were some bugs there too, I managed to sort it out, thanks Windows!! x)

Anyway, thank you for your answers and your efficiency, it's really kind of you.

    Take care :)
