Hello,

I want to start this little discussion to help many who have been lingering on the forums of neighboring sites. As I write this post, I am waiting for a refund from Cofidis, which automatically deducted an amount of money (133€) during an order placed on Woodbrass.

The payment was refused (for no specific reason), and without having received any email or SMS, I am quite worried about the amount that was debited from my account.

Therefore, I intend to keep you updated on the progress of events, and I can provide you with these few details, more or less reliable, that I found here and there:

- Cofidis, when processing an order through their services, carries out an "auto-debit" on your account to verify that you have the necessary funds for the transaction (In my case, Cofidis deducted 133€, which is one-third of 400€, hence my order in 3 installments).

- In the event that your payment is canceled (as in my case), the said amount initially debited should be automatically refunded within 3 to 4 business days (I have nevertheless sent an email to Cofidis support to confirm this).

(I asked Cofidis to explain this situation, particularly what I can do regarding a possible opposition request, if necessary, with my bank). I will copy their response here as soon as I receive it.

- Regarding the procedure used by Cofidis: The said debited amount is actually in a "stationary" state (information to be verified). This means that the amount in question is somehow still with your bank, but it is held by Cofidis to secure your purchase.

- From what I have understood from others with a similar case, the concerned merchant (Woodbrass, in this instance) doesn't have proof of a purchase/transaction, just that an amount has been debited. In this case, they obviously recommend contacting Cofidis, which will not be able to provide any information regarding the automatic debit (which, I must say, is not very reassuring).

I am obviously posting this message because neither the merchant (Woodbrass) nor the credit company (Cofidis) informed me about the automatic debit, without any information, which I find absolutely unacceptable. Certainly, my research has often stopped at forums discussing the subject, but it is impossible to find useful information regarding this automatic debit on the very Cofidis website. If necessary, I will call customer service, which is charged.

To reassure some who are reading this so far, I believe I have seen that similar cases to mine have been resolved without issues, notably through the forum in question, especially thanks to an administrator who will directly contact Cofidis (which is quite something, kudos to those individuals).

As soon as I have additional information, I will post it here.
Don't hesitate to ask me for any information, as long as I have the requested information, I will pass it along!

Have a good day!

Good news:

Indeed, after 2 days of waiting, the said amount that was "withdrawn" has been returned to my account. It was indeed just a simple procedure from my bank (but let's be honest, a little message would have been necessary to keep me informed).
