Hello,
I just updated my iPhone 5S. Everything went well, but there's one step that I don't understand.
I need to "Authorize my iPhone from a device connected to iCloud"... Great, and without any further explanation, I'm not a computer expert, so if any of you could kindly explain to me how to proceed, I would be grateful.

Hello, your "problem" comes from the settings of your Apple account; you have certainly activated the "two-step verification" option.
Two-step verification requires at least two Apple devices connected to the same Apple/iCloud account. When you try to activate a device, a message appears on another device (which must be in your possession) with a window to validate to allow the new device to connect to your account.
Be careful, the Apple devices must be compatible with two-step verification (depending on iOS or OS X).
If you do not own a "second" device or a compatible device, connect to your Apple account (with iTunes on your computer) and see if you can disable the "Two-Step Verification" option.

You need to log in to your Apple account either through iTunes on your computer or at the following website:
    https://appleid.apple.com/#!&page=signin
On the main page, you have Security.
