Hello,
Instead of 2 RJ45 wall sockets (for the phone and the internet), my office has only one.
Is it possible to install an Ethernet splitter in the patch panel at the entry point of my RJ45 cable, to which I would connect the cable linked to the telephone server and the cable linked to the internet server, and a 2nd splitter at the output in my office, with one cable for my phone and the other for my computer?
Will that work? Is it better to install a switch? And if so, do you have any equipment to recommend?
Thank you.
Bifri.

Hi,
if both devices are connected via Ethernet on the same network, a switch is definitely better, no doubt.
If the phone is an analog phone and not an IP phone, Ethernet won't work, and neither will Ethernet splitters; you need a telephone/Ethernet pair splitter or rather two, one at each end.
Be sure to note the different scheme from the Ethernet splitter.
and... Voilà Voilà Voilà!

This involves two different networks; there is a phone server and an internet server.
The phone system only uses two wires from an RJ45 cable depending on the provider. I want a connection for my computer via Ethernet (so I believe 4 wires are needed).
In that case, would a simple splitter be sufficient?
Thank you for your answer.
the Ethernet repeater is not suitable; we need two Ethernet/telephone splitters.
If the phone is analog or non-IP digital, it will not work on a switch; we need two cables or splitters, which by the way limit the Ethernet speed to 100 Mbit/s, as only two pairs are used.
Best regards.
