Sagem STV2140 sound that lowers by itself.
SolvedSol -
Hello,
Recently, my TV lowers the volume by itself: the volume slider appears and decreases on its own as if I'm pressing the remote control (and this even without batteries in the remote control). I can fight back by increasing the volume constantly from the remote control, but it quickly becomes annoying.
My TV is a Sagem STV2140 from 1997. Is there any hope, or should I invest in something new?
Thank you.
Alain

Samsung TV L26S...
I had the same problem on my Samsung TV (the sound stuck at 0), I just fixed it by removing the cover of my TV and disconnecting the cable that connects the buttons on the right to my TV!
It works perfectly with my remote control!!!!
Just unscrew the 5 or 6 screws on the side of the buttons, slightly open the back of the TV, and disconnect the 2 wires (white and blue on my TV) with your nail.
Thank you all!
the sound drops and stays at 0, impossible to turn it back up
Does anyone have a solution then?
I have the same problem; the sound lowers by itself. The issue comes from the touch buttons at the bottom right of the screen.
I therefore tested unplugging the connector that links this component to the rest of the TV. The problem is that the infrared sensor is integrated into this component, so I can't do anything with my TV because the remote control no longer works.
Some people talk about white and black wires... For my part, there are 8 small wires, the colors of which are as follows: black, brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple. The solution would be to unplug the small wires for the touch buttons and only leave connected the wire(s) that allow the infrared sensor to function.
My question is, what color wires should I leave connected for the infrared to still work??
So let's recap for the latecomers:
First, turn off your wifi or you won’t be able to access the hidden menu.
Next, access the hidden menu with the TV off, pressing the buttons in sequence: INFO MENU MUTE POWER.
Then go to the CONTROL sub-menu and press OK.
Select the SUB menu.
Set WATCHDOG to OFF using the right arrow.
Press return and power to restart...
Also try: menu>system>data broadcasting service. Choose to disable.
If that doesn't work, it might be the Samsung issue, where the manual buttons malfunction:

In fact, I can even provide you with the part number; I ordered it, it costs 18 including shipping.
Control board reference BN41-00989A ordered from lavs.
However, on some Samsung TVs, the wires are GRAY and WHITE instead of blue and white.
It's a small connector on the TV button side with thin wires that disconnects rather easily (after, of course, unscrewing the back panel of the TV, +/- 20 screws).
Once this small connector is disconnected, the bar containing all the buttons on the TV becomes independent and you can either remove it to change it or leave it as is, and you just have to use the remote to turn it on, the sound
etc, and IT WORKS!
Thanks to the community and the DIY enthusiasts on the net!
Big shoutout to the genius who found the solution.
Quick question for everyone who has solved the issue regarding the disconnection of the wire of the buttons:
Now that I have disconnected them, how do I turn on my TV? xD It's not in standby, so the remote control is useless...
Thanks in advance ;)
Hi everyone, I had a sound issue with my LCL Samsung 82 cm screen bought in 2008 and I resolved it by unplugging the cable that connects to the buttons on the right side of my TV in 10 minutes by unscrewing 4 screws. Thanks to those who informed me of the procedure to follow.
For those who want to keep their selector.
Just locate the faulty selector switch (for me, low volume).
Disassemble it by lifting the small metal cover around it.
Carefully remove the copper contact disc.
Clean everything with 90° alcohol and a cotton swab.
Reassemble everything.
And there you have it, the TV is like new with its selector.
In my opinion, either your television is ALIVE and having fun, or your NEIGHBOR has the same remote control and is the one having fun.
I laugh to myself thinking about the neighbor who turns the volume up when you turn it down and vice versa...
Well, that’s probably it.
See you!
It wasn't really a joke in my first post: have you really explored the neighboring area? Personally, I have remote controls that work on several TVs and sometimes the walls are thin...
Another possibility: malfunction of the remote control: does the TV lower the volume with the remote that's out of order (without batteries)?
See you!
I didn't quite understand your answer, could you explain please? Thanks!
