Multilingual video, keep one language

Hello,

I have some videos that are in multilingual versions (French and French subtitles). On my PC, no problem, I manage as I want.
Almost all of them seem to be in .avi format and I use VLC, I'm not sure if it's super important to mention that ^^

I would like to remove the French subtitles and keep only the French audio. I read somewhere (here, I think) that VLC could do this, so I tried. I don't know about others, but I ended up with videos that are in French but the quality is poor.... it's hard to watch (images are mixed, etc).
The original video (multilingual) is fine, great quality.

Have others used VLC without experiencing quality issues, please?
Otherwise, what other good software could be useful? :)

Thank you in advance, best regards.

Configuration: Windows / Firefox 47.0

    Hello,

    Thank you for the software.
I am testing it but I just realized a little issue. Most multilingual videos are in .mkv format.
Apparently, Avidemux does not support it :s well, it's enough to change the format with FormatFactory and convert it to .avi, I can manage that.

But actually, even before using your software, I didn't notice before ^^ once the video is in .avi, the multilingual options have disappeared!! I only have the choice of either the original version or no sound.

Is that normal? How can I fix this, please? Is there another software other than FormatFactory?

Grrr lol!! Thanks anyway in advance.

    I think I finally found it :)))

I found MediaCoder and I managed to use it for a quick test. It works even though the format remains in mkv; I tried to set it to avi: the video seems to be of good quality (I haven't watched all of it), it works with the selected language, etc.

Well, I think Avidemux is not really suitable for my case, but thank you very much again.

    Hello,

    Almost all are in .avi

    ?

But indeed for mkv, it will work better with Mkvmerge ^^

Check out this tutorial, no encoding...

Sorry for the long response time!

I was mistaken when I said that almost all the videos were in .avi. Originally, in multiple languages, they are .mkv, but once saved with VLC, yes, they are all in .avi but with the poor quality that comes with it.
    Anyway, ^^ it gets confusing.

But with Mediacoder, it works very well as I mentioned, so I'll stick to my method for now ;)
