How to connect: television + decoder + recording player

Hello,

I plugged the Scart plug from the decoder to the recorder in AV1. Then the recorder to the TV from AV2 to AV2.

How do I set up the channels? I suppose it's with the decoder. But it's not working.

The decoder is connected to the antenna socket.

Thank you for your help.

Configuration: Windows / Firefox 45.0

Hello,
You are not alone in facing this kind of issue and here is what I usually suggest on this forum.
Solution 1, the best and least expensive one :-Most current HD TNT receivers have a "PVR" = Personal Video Recorder (in French = Magnétoscope Numérique), they record on external hard drives in HD, they can of course be programmed in advance, convenient, no more tapes or DVDs to handle and you can thus record one channel while watching another on the TV if it is HD, otherwise a double tuner adapter
You can always use your DVD recorder for playback
Solution 2 not great: add an HD receiver to your current recorder which will record via the SCART an HD signal degraded to SD, plus you will have to program both devices.
-But it is possible provided that the HD TNT receiver has a SCART socket, and that the recorder is switched to it.
Connections:
For the antenna, whichever solution:
Antenna input on the HD TNT receiver, then return to the TV with a coaxial cable (receiver output -> TV antenna input.)
Solution 1: HD TNT receiver via HDMI to the TV.
DVD recorder via HDMI if possible to the TV, otherwise SCART.
Solution 2:
The SCART output of the HD TNT receiver to the SCART input of the recorder (AV2 in principle) which will need to be switched to this input.
DVD recorder via HDMI to the TV if possible, otherwise SCART.
It may be necessary to configure the TNT receiver as some output via SCART or HDMI but not both.
Solution 3 : buy another recorder with HD tuner !!! but that's a bit much

Hello,
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
I just checked various sites and I can't find a specific external hard drive for TV recordings.
Are those recommended for PCs compatible?

Thank you for your response.

With hard drives, you can't record on a TV or satellite decoder a drive larger than 1TB; it no longer records movies at about half of its capacity. A 500GB hard drive is more than enough; it's better to have several 500GB drives.

Yes, they are exactly the same; there are no specific hard drives. However, PVRs often record in a "proprietary" format, which means that recordings can only be played back on the device that recorded them.
