Local disk Z

Hello, Good evening would be more accurate actually.

Configuration: Windows 10/ Firefox 45.0

Windows 10 is indeed full of surprises:

I discovered today in the file explorer a local disk Z (probably created after a bug (1)) and I have no idea what it's for.
If I click on it, I'm told that I do not have the required permissions to access this folder.
With each click, I end up in the properties of the local disk Z:\
File system: Fat 32
Space used: 110 MB
Free space: 145 MB

(1) I think it's due to the unsolicited intervention of HP support, which was inquiring about the removal of McAfee and suggested creating a restore point - I rolled back a week - Could it be that according to you?

Thank you for clarifying this for me.

    hello.

Having two Recovery partitions seems rather surprising to me, I would even say improbable... one in NTFS, and the other in "we don't really know yet"

Partitions in order should look like <<this>>

    You should do this

    Windows key + X key
    select Command Prompt (Admin)
    in the black window

    you type
    diskpart
    confirm with enter

    type
    list disk
    confirm with enter

    type
    list volume
    confirm with enter

    type
    list partition
    confirm with enter

leave the window open, and send a screenshot, so we can see all the commands please.

      Good evening Darkleopard

Thank you too. Now that I have dared to use the command prompt, I will do as you say, but tomorrow. Excuse me, but after straining my eyes to read tiny white characters on a black background, my eyes are crossing and it’s better for me to wait for daylight (my 74-year-old eyes are suffering)
      So we’ll meet again tomorrow.

I still want to add that the two recovery partitions have always been there. According to my seller of this PC (Compaq) who retrieved my Toshiba hard drive with XP system where my manuscripts that I absolutely wanted to recover were located, one of them is the partition that existed on the Toshiba drive but he was still surprised to find it there and I found him a bit unsure of himself... Given my computer knowledge, I couldn’t be more curious and insist.

As for their arrangement.... it’s not me, sir, I swear: I haven’t touched anything. But your various commands that I will follow calmly tomorrow during the day should clarify things for us definitively.
      Have a good evening.

      Good evening

      Just a bug.
It's clearly the same partition displayed twice: same drive letter D:, same capacity, same free percentage...

one in NTFS, and the other with no indication, when it should be in NTFS.

We should check the file explorer to see if this recovery appears twice or just once..

A bug in the disk manager seems rather unlikely, the cmd will tell us what's wrong, or if everything is "clean"..

It is absolutely true. There is only one Recovery partition (D) as shown below the list, the drawing of the partitions. If it is displayed twice, I don't think it's a bug but rather a consequence of the special status of this OEM-type partition.
