Connect a HDMI TV with a SCART adapter.

Hello, everything seems perfect except that I have the message that the connection is not recognized on the screen. I've tried to turn the problem around in every way but I have no solution. VCR and DVD player are separate... I'm considering buying a combo DVD/VHS recorder but I can only find them used. Will I have the same problem with this new purchase, and at what price?

Configuration: Windows / Firefox 45.0

    Hello,
    If your TV has an HDMI connector, that's where you need to plug in your adapter which must have an HDMI output
    Then, could you clarify your problem with the DVD/VCR?

      Good evening Andy, I have understood about the TV connections with my VCR and my DVD player, but when I select source, it displays HDMI1 (I know it is active because it turns white with the "HDMI1" in green) and then it shows "no signal HDMI1, check the cable connections and the settings of your source device.
      My VCR is an LG and my DVD player is a Toshiba.

    You are not the only one facing this kind of issue, and here’s what I usually suggest on this forum.
    Solution 1, the best and least expensive one :-Most current HD TNT set-top boxes have a "PVR" = Personal Video Recorder (in French = Magnétoscope Numérique), they record on external hard drives in HD, they can of course be programmed in advance, practical, no more tapes or DVDs to handle, and you can record one channel while watching another on the TV if it is HD, otherwise a dual tuner adapter is needed.
    You can always use your DVD recorder for playback
    Solution 2 not great: add an HD set-top box to your current recorder which will record via the SCART a degraded HD signal in SD, plus you will have to program both devices.
    -But it's possible as long as the HD TNT set-top box has a SCART socket, and that the recorder is switched to it.
    Connections:
    For the antenna, whatever the solution:
    Antenna input to the HD TNT set-top box, then return to the TV with a coaxial cable (set-top box output -> TV antenna input.)
    Solution 1: HD TNT set-top box in HDMI on the TV.
    DVD recorder in HDMI if possible on the TV, otherwise SCART.
    Solution 2:
    The SCART output of the HD TNT set-top box to the SCART input of the recorder (AV2 in principle) which will need to be switched to this input.
    DVD recorder in HDMI on the TV if possible, otherwise SCART.
    It may be necessary to configure the TNT terminal as they output either through SCART or HDMI but not both.
    Solution 3: buy a recorder with an HD tuner!!! but that's quite a stretch
