Hello everyone,

I have a well-insulated house, and as a result, the wifi does not reach the upper floor. However, I have RJ45 outlets in every room, all connected to a switch in the laundry room near the modem.

I am therefore looking for a way to have wifi on all floors via one of the existing RJ45 outlets in order to avoid installing a powerful router in the laundry room. (If I installed RJ45s everywhere, it’s not to eat wifi signals all the time)

What do you suggest I use? What solutions would you consider?

- A wifi repeater? That’s not really meant for that and they don’t have RJ45 (in)
- A router to place on each floor? In that case, I would have different wifi networks, right? -> not great
- ...?

If someone can enlighten me, that would be cool

Thanks!!

Good evening,

I recommend products such as the Belkin go n300 db,

It creates a Wi-Fi hotspot from an RJ45 connection, available here on Amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Dual-Band-Wireless-Broadband-F9K1107uk/dp/B006Q7FG3W available for around £15, which is a reasonable price.

Hoping to have shed some light on your search

Yes, thank you!

Will this wifi be the same as on the ground floor? Same identifier, same network name?

No, here's the only problem.
Only a wifi repeater can allow the same network key.
It's not a problem, you can save both codes on your devices, the device will choose the wifi based on the best signal it detects from where you are :)

There you go :)
