Vestel power supply no backlight Solved

Hello,

on a Philips television, 32pfl3028h, Vestel power supply, no images but sound works after watching, the backlight is not working. Do you have any idea? Thank you.
Configuration: Windows / Chrome 49.0.2623.87

In my opinion, it's going into safety mode... For a reason...?? Hard to guess... Probably an overconsumption somewhere, the LEDs for sure, but also the inverter... The panel itself (the LCD screen) could be short-circuiting.
Otherwise, on the power board, there may be components that go down as soon as it starts... There's a FET transistor right at the entry of the transformer for the 24v, which is a "keystone" for the circuits. It's often glued to the same heatsink as the diode bridge.

I believe that on large screens, there's 24v for audio... so if you have sound, then the 24v is working..??

If you change the channel, does the sound change too...?
Can you turn on your TV with the remote control..?

If the image is present on the screen… and the backlighting is absent, with a flashlight angled on the front of the screen, you can make out the video display… which would confirm the absence of backlighting... Otherwise, it's the lack of display that prevents the backlighting and puts the TV into safety mode.

What's the Vestel model number..?? Do you have the schematic..??

Good evening,

on these TVs, it is generally 24 Volts that powers the backlight... And it doesn't serve any other purpose... So we need 24v at the top of the board.

However... the LED backlight works on 12v supplied by a small inverter that is part of the Driv board integrated at the back of the panel..

-- And the backlight remains off if the graphic information does not reach the panel... on the 30 or 40 pin connector...

The sound works with the 12v from the power board..

Hi,

Your TV doesn't have "Neon", they are LEDs... they are part of the panel, to know their operating voltages, you need to know the references of the panel used in your TV... to find the technical sheet..

Usually, LEDs do not "burn out", they last a very long time and the power circuit is included in the panel... you just need to power it with 24 volts via the 14-pin connector while the LCD matrix comes in via the 30-contact ribbon cable...

Yes, the link works, but the photo must be quite large in megabytes because it takes a while to load... It's better to have photos at 1600x1200 at 96 ppi
Anyway, just for your information.

Your socket is the PL501, I suppose... it's not a socket for neon lights, under 800 volts, you need much more stringent insulation.

It might be the start towards LEDs, but that's not certain. You should be able to measure a voltage on the two pins... 12v or 24v.

From what I understand, Vestel makes a lot of power supply boards for TV manufacturers.. But not as many TVs, it only has a few models with common parts, let's say it has about twenty models.

But each of these models is slightly adapted according to the television it is intended for... in the end, even the same model number isn't necessarily the same as another; it seems very tricky to me.

-- There are differences: not all components are mounted, the connectors are not the same size, not in the same location, there is even a black connector that doesn't exist etc... etc..

So my answer is, no all these boards are not the same and you have to be very cautious about the variants...

If you order, you can also send an email to the seller, before the purchase, to ask them to confirm that it will fit your TV model, that’s still useful information... they don't always know, but when they do, they confirm or advise the right model, or how it should be adapted..

-- The LCD matrix that displays each pixel
-- The row of LEDs that provides backlighting for the LCD matrix
-- An electronic circuit that is on the back of the panel
This circuit contains a part that drives the LEDs, it could be that too...

--- That being said, if you are very meticulous and somewhat technical...the row of LEDs on a screen can be changed...you can even replace the fluorescent tubes of an old system screen with an LED replacement...
You need to know the exact references of the screen (panel)

One single LED or a strip of LEDs..?  How did you see that..?  In any case, one faulty LED and shorted out is enough to put your power supply in safety mode.. And your power supply is fine..
