Hello everyone, I have a problem with my laptop!! It won't start anymore :(

It gets stuck on a blue page after I turn it on...
I'm on Windows 7 and I don't have a CD, I've tried everything F8, F12, F10, all of it and nothing works in the end it restarts and gets stuck on a blue page

I can leave it on that page for hours and nothing will happen

I would need your help, I've tried everything and I’m losing hope :(

Thanks in advance, sorry if a post like this has already been made but I'm really losing hope I really need your help

What is the model of the Toshiba?
Do you have any important data inside?

Hi, thanks for responding so quickly

No, nothing important, just some music and movies, nothing serious

    It's a Toshiba Satellite C660/660D

Since you don't have a CD, we can try this.

Hold down the zero key on the numeric keypad and start the PC.

You should be able to reset the PC, bringing it back to how it was when you unboxed it at purchase.

And if nothing happens, it could be a hard drive issue that's on its last legs...

Great, press the 0 key and restart the computer, it works, thank you.

Ouch... little problem, some keys on my keyboard are not working, including the 0 key...

If it's connected to another keyboard via USB, will it work too?

So, well, I still tried with the keyboard connected via USB and it's not working...

I end up on the page that says Windows could not start, blah blah... it asks me to either: run the system restart tool (recommended) or: start Windows normally

By running the system restart tool, I get to the blue screen and it freezes

By starting Windows normally, the PC restarts and I end up back on the page that says Windows could not start, blah blah...

In short, with either option I'm stuck :(

I'm thinking more and more about your HDD that has kicked the bucket...
Simply because even if Windows doesn't boot normally or at all, the recovery is always accessible, that's its purpose after all, in case of a major crash...

Whereas with yours, nothing at all, it boots and crashes in the same way every time.

      How old is your PC?

The problem is that I think using the USB keyboard doesn't help at all with the 0 key... maybe we should do it with the original keyboard :/

The PC is 4 years old

But the original keyboard's 0 key doesn't work anymore grrrr, is it possible to reach the desktop by using F10 or F12 or F8 or some other trick? Or to reset, format or whatever the PC? I don't mind losing everything...

with your external keyboard, tap F2 to access the BIOS, let's see if it works.
we'll have the answer to the question about the zero key, already..

there might be a way but I'm not sure it will work, we'll try it later, we have nothing to lose..

perfect, it sends you into the BIOS.

so your external keyboard works, so the zero key has no effect, now we are sure.

      another question.
under your laptop, there's a label, could you please give me the exact model?

      toshiba c660 PSC0QV for example.

Well, I looked into it, and what annoys me as always about manuals is that we don't have all the details we're looking for.....

We go back to what you were saying.
With F8, you have access to the advanced options.

According to the manual, you can reset via the hidden partition.
When you hold down F8, you get the advanced boot options menu.
And from there, do you have a recovery option???

In any case, thank you very much for your help!!

I removed it because we could see a part of your Windows key (even though, deep down, it wouldn't be useful to anyone since it's a manufacturer key), but it avoids problems...

Okay, try F8 and let me know.
Also, please give me a list of the options you have via F8.

So now you're going to click on repair the computer
and you're going to tell me all the options we have.

See if there's a recovery HDD or something that looks similar.

If not, we'll try going through the command prompt, we'll do some operations.

ok so it's that same blue page where you can get stuck for hours on end with no progress whatsoever.??

Windows is unable to self-repair, either the HDD is dead, or Windows is really messed up...

let's move on to the commands via the command prompt, since we're going in circles.

you will once again tap f8 during the startup of the pc.
using the down arrow, go to command prompt in safe mode
      confirm with enter.

you should have a black window pop up.

when you're at that window, let me know, and I'll send you the command to enter..

Did you get all that by doing the manipulation to reach the command prompt??

That's quite strange, but never mind, if it's running, let it finish, don't turn off your PC..

      I really don't understand anything!!!

I've tried everything, either I keep going in circles and end up back at square one, or I stay on the blue page for hours and hours and nothing changes...

I don't know if it matters, but before it started bugging like this, I updated the plugins for Flash Player...

Then it started bugging so much that I restored the system to an earlier date, and since then, nothing is working anymore :(

If you launch the system restart tool, you still arrive on the blue screen.??

No, a plugin update for Flash Player can't mess up a PC, and besides, you restored it to an earlier date..

I'm afraid that my first impression is becoming more and more confirmed...
The hard drive is really starting to show signs of fatigue.

If we can't access the command prompt, we're stuck...

ha he couldn't restore it all the way....
your Windows must be completely messed up.

before all these issues, did you have bugs from time to time??
which could mean that the hard drive is getting old..

    Yes, I see...

And without that, there's nothing to be done then? I'm talking about at her place without the help of another PC?

As for taking it to the repair shop, I think buying a new one would be more beneficial

In any case, thank you very much!

Would it be possible to put another hard drive in it?

I have a PC with a broken screen (black screen) but the PC works perfectly... I just have to connect it to the TV to have the screen for it to be functional...

But it's not the same brand, it's an Acer, so I think that might cause a problem...

Sorry, I don't know much about it.

Honestly, given the state of his Seven, there's nothing to be done, no manipulation reaches completion, even the command prompt fails, it's proof that the failed restore has left traces all over the system...

I would have liked to find a solution but right now it's not possible...

We can just try one last manipulation, but I'm not too hopeful...

Tap F8 while the PC is booting.
Choose the option Repair your computer
Wait for the infamous blue page to appear.

Once it's there, perform the combination CTRL + ALT + DEL
and let me know if a page opens or not...

        Hi,

he forgot to copy the recovery partition
he forgot to create a DISK IMAGE
he forgot to create a RECOVERY DISK

For system distractions like him since WINRE does not respond on his PC then grab WINRE elsewhere ->
        https://www.pcastuces.com/pratique/windows/7/cle_usb_reparation/page2.htm

PS: you know very well that I don't agree with you regarding this "I wanted you to download Windows 7"

Toshiba Windows 7 pre-installed OEM version
The product key you entered seems to be intended for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer. Contact the manufacturer to find out about software recovery options

No need to bring your laptop..
You prepare your USB key on your computer but at home.

And you'll just have to bring your USB key with you, and try to reinstall Seven on your Toshiba..

I sent you the link because you probably forgot to create a Recovery Disc

Normally, after purchasing the Toshiba machine, you were supposed to copy the recovery partition preinstalled by Toshiba

Burn it on several DVD-R 4.7GB, 5 max
You were also supposed to create a system image
External disk that will host the future system image

      Repair disc on a DVD-R 4.7GB

The advanced options do not work
Repairing the computer doesn't work either
Repairing the computer is "Windows Recovery Environment" "WINRE"

I also asked you to display the Start menu and still nothing.
You have captured the screens several times for Darkleopard
I didn't send the link to clutter your post, it's to use WinRE from the repair disk
      Anyway, hi.
Microsoft does not release its Windows 7 ISO file for Manufacturer PCs
Microsoft releases its Windows 10 ISO file
for Manufacturer PCs "Digital Rights" -> use the Windows 7 product key

    This?

Maybe it has nothing to do with it, but given the age of the PC, 32 bits would be more likely, right?
