Good evening
You install the latest version, then you launch the software. At that moment, a dialog box opens, divided into 6 parts.
In the 1st part, you select the drive where the lost photos were located (for example: memory card in a reader, camera connected via USB, hard drive, etc...) sometimes you may need to fiddle with the drive letters and search a bit.
In the 2nd part, you select the type of document you want to find. They are probably .jpg files, otherwise check the list.
In the 3rd part, you specify where you want to recover your images (for example c:\my documents\images or whatever you want). The icon on the right allows you to browse your computer to find that directory.
When everything is done, you click on start (in the 6th part) and let it run.
After that, you access your recovered photos in the folder defined in step 3.
Be aware that your photos will have changed names. I don't know if the recovery reaches 100%. I just did a trial to help someone who managed things differently, and I even managed to recover photos after formatting the card.
Good luck

I deleted my photos. I recovered the folders with Inspector Recovery, but unfortunately they are empty. Any tips on how to get these images back? Grandpa is totally lost. Thanks for the advice.
Hello, I might have the light that can brighten your path.
Indeed, I had the same issue as everyone else (hard drive crashing) and I had "cluster" files that were empty. I should mention that formatting was suggested to me when I tried to access my hard drive.
So I decided to do this formatting, I chose quick format, which took a second.
Then I restarted "pcinspector" and copied the JPEG files to a valid drive. This time I was able to recover the photos. One small problem, as you will see, the photos are truncated and for good reason all the files are 1.43MB by default and that’s not enough for a photo.
For every problem, there is a solution (when found). So launch "pcinspector", close the active center window to access the file tab at the top left. Then click on option and on the middle tab that allows you to change the size of the recovered files, confirm without saving as you will probably repeat the action. For the photos, I chose 3 Megabytes = 3145728 Bytes, but it depends on the megapixels of the camera, the higher they are, the more space the photos take.
For the rest, adjust your Bytes to the files to recover. I hope that I have helped you in return.

Hello,
I also have a similar problem.
I have an external hard drive, and the only thing I could do was to format it, so I did. I installed PC Inspector, but I can't even select my hard drive...
I'm so fed up, I don't understand how to find it...
The software shows me "hard drive #1" and "hard drive #2". I select the 2 (because I think it's that one), but I can't click on the little green symbol to validate.
If someone smarter than me could help, I would be very grateful... the files on my hard drive are really dear to me... I should mention that they are Word files.
Thank you for your future responses.

you are using pci incorrectly
in order, for those who have formatted their disk
the language
the folder with a red cross
the disk you have formatted
click on search for logical disks, move the second slider all the way to the right
it spins and a list of logical disks appears, look inside it should have your disk (with the name you gave it), there, all the directories with all the files inside, as if you had your disk before. You select on the left the directory whose folders you want to recover. On the right, you select these and click on the floppy disk and choose where you want to save the deleted files
the program seems to freeze, select a maximum of fifteen directories

Hello,
the subject is a bit old to provide an answer to its author...
However, I know it will help many others who have a data recovery issue [before or after formatting the hard drive or other media]!!
The software I recommend is also 100% free but so much more effective and intuitive than PC Inspector!!
It supports many more file formats, such as XLSX which is a very recent format (PC Inspector only recognizes XLS!!)
Moreover, here we don't talk about "clusters," etc... but we retrieve the entire file with its actual size, original name, original save date, etc...
For me, it's the best of the best at the moment.
Oh, one more detail... it's so much faster to visualize the initial results!!
So, without further ado, here's the link:

The cherry on the cake, you have, on the site, a whole range of free software just as effective in their own field!!

I would like to thank you for the valuable help you have given me.
That's kind! I couldn't reply to you earlier because I was too busy looking for solutions elsewhere... then time slipped by... Anyway, I have solved my problem since then. I still wish to stay in touch with you and anyone else who would like to... and I already consider you my future Good Friends.
Thanks again.

Your explanation is very clear, except that I'm struggling to fiddle around, as you said, with the letters of the first box.
My memory card is in my camera, but the software doesn't recognize it. In "select the device," there are only 2 choices: C (which is the same source that I need to repair) OR F (which corresponds to the DVD/CD-ROM drive).
So I can't start the analysis!!
What do I do?
Thanks a lot.
I just installed PC Inspector File Recovery.
But I don't understand anything.
I lost all my photos; my niece deleted everything even in the recycle bin.
Please help me.
N0emi.ee@live.fr I'm leaving you my address if you could help me that would be really nice. Thank you.
Once again we need your help... To recover the data from my formatted disk, I used this software that finds more than 10,000 files named according to their location on the disk, under clusters. I can save them elsewhere but can't open them afterwards. Do you know why and how to do it?
