Renumber the pages

Hello,

I scanned a document in several steps. To regenerate the original document, I merged several PDF files.

Problem: the logical numbering from 1 to the total number of pages no longer works. It restarts at 1 in the middle of the document, etc.

What simple solution do you propose to ensure that the page number on the document matches the page number in the PDF file again?

Thank you for your help.

    Hello,

I must not have been clear enough in my question. So I will explain my problem again.

I scanned 1 document of over 100 pages. To scan it, I had to do it in several parts. So in the end, I had 5 PDF files.

Then I merged my 5 PDF files to have just one. Normally, each page of the PDF document should correspond to the page number of the paper document.

However, it does not number from 1 to 100; the numbering restarts at 1 at some point as if the software had to keep the numbering of each of the PDF files I merged.

What I would like is simply for my merged PDF file to number from 1 to 100 because now, when I want to print a page, it is not the correct page that gets printed.

    Thank you for your help.

      Hello

It's not possible... The original numbering must match the numbering of the thumbnails...

When you merged, did you select "after the last page" so that the merge doesn't happen in the middle?

      ;)

    Hello,

    I proceeded as follows:
Once my 5 PDF files were created, I opened the first PDF file. I clicked on print. I selected PDF creator as the printer. Then print. Instead of saving, I selected merge. After that, I did the same with files #2, #3, #4, and #5. Then I clicked continue and save. I then obtain a single PDF file that merges my 5 files.
The problem is that the numbering of the sheets on the screen does not correspond to the numbering of the merged PDF file.
Is there not a way to change the pagination of the file? To simply indicate that when it displays the 6th page, it is page 6, when it displays the 54th page, it is page 54, ...

    Thank you for your help.

      Hello,
Try splitting your two initial scanned PDF files into individual pages and then regrouping all the pages to see if it works better. If it’s okay, do the same manipulation with your five batches.
To split into individual pages, I use pdfsam.

It seems long to manipulate a 100-page file. Especially since I will have several files to process.

Try then to merge your five files with the already mentioned pdfsam, maybe it works differently from pdf creator.

    Hello

Open your first pdf, select merge, indicate "after the last page" and choose the 2nd pdf.

    No need to print...

And so on until the last one.

    ;)

Life remains the most beautiful thing I have...

On PDF creator I do not have "after the last page". In fact, once the virtual printing is done, the file name appears in a list and I can modify the order of the file merging, which means I can define which file will be first, second, and so on.

At worst, you write the numbering by hand at the top right of the page
