Ground connection for vinyl turntable to amplifier

Hello,

I connected the RCA outputs of an old vinyl turntable to a preamp, which is then connected to the auxiliary inputs of a hi-fi amplifier (no phono inputs). I can hear the sound from the turntable, but a humming noise is ruining it. It's probably due to the ground wire from the turntable. Indeed, a ground wire comes out of the turntable in addition to the 2 RCA plugs, but I don't know where to connect it (considering that neither the preamp nor the amplifier have any sockets to connect this ground).

Do you know how to solve this problem and stop the humming?

Thank you.

Uh, if you have a ground on your RCA cable and it's connected to your old turntable, you can simply connect the other end to a screw on your preamp or amplifier, making sure that it makes contact with bare metal (if not, gently scrape off some paint).
