Hello everyone,

First of all, I want to make it clear that I'm far from being good at computers! My problem concerns a Word document.

I started from a "template" document which contains a table of contents with titles.

After typing and formatting all the content, I realized that all my text is actually THE TABLE OF CONTENTS!
When I click on update, it deletes all the content and if I right-click in my Word document, it suggests updating the table of contents...

I’ve pinpointed the exact place where I switch from "normal" text to table of contents mode;

I would like to know if it's possible to keep my text, my images, and formatting without it being considered as a table of contents so that I can insert a proper one at the beginning of the document. Because right now, if I insert a table, of course all my text disappears!

I hope I’ve been clear enough, and I hope you can help me

Sorry, I'm really not good with all these tools

Have a nice day everyone

Hello,

we all find ourselves in comical situations with computer tools from time to time...

I'm not sure I understood correctly, but try this:
Select all the part of your document that should not be in the table of contents, go to Format, Paragraph, and choose "Body Text" in the "Heading Level" field (there might be Level 1 or 2 indicated). Don't change anything else.
