Why does my sent message remain unread on Facebook?

Hello,
With the new Facebook settings, I know that when the photo appears, it means the message has been read, a filled circle means it has been sent and received, and an empty circle means just sent. I sent a message and the empty circle is still displayed, so the message has not been received, but I don't understand why since I see the person active on Facebook (marked below their name in the conversation). Does anyone have an idea why?
Thanks in advance!

I understood how it works:

I hope I didn't make any mistakes in what I've said and that it has been useful to you.
- when you send a message and the person's photo appears, it means they have seen the message
- when the circle is full, it means the message you sent has activated their chat bubble, so they are forced to notice it.
- When the circle remains completely empty, it means the message is in the process of being sent
- When the circle is empty with a small icon inside, it means the person received it but did not receive a notification, so they need to open the Messenger app to see it.

Thank you very much! You've helped me a lot, I understand everything now.

It should be noted that the circle with the icon inside may also mean that your contact has checked "ignore messages," and therefore the conversation now appears for them in "message invitations." Your messages are visible to your contact and are marked "unread" for you. So this is a little trick if you want to leave someone hanging without that person seeing that you've read their messages (while still wanting to read what they send).
