Replace core i3 with core i5

Hello,
As mentioned in the title, I would like to know if I can replace a Core i3-2350M (2nd Gen) with a Core i5-3210M (3rd Gen).
The motherboard is from a Satellite Pro C870-112.

So,

apparently, the chipset used on the 3 laptops is HM65
The GPUs range from the AMD HD 7610M to HD 7670M

I honestly believe that there shouldn't be any issues.

The only difference is the generation of the processor (2nd and 3rd).

But I have already swapped different generations of processors with each other without any problems.

In any case, whatever happens, even if the CPU is not supported by the BIOS version, apart from beeping sounds... at startup, you won't risk anything.

However, do be careful when flashing the BIOS.
I noticed a Toshiba utility that allows you to flash via Windows (Win Phlash).

  This addresses one of my biggest concerns.
  If I understand correctly, there is no risk of damaging the motherboard (as well as the other components)?

  Not at all.
  Now, don’t insist if you hear beeping or if the screen stays black... It’s logical.
  In any case, you’ll know what's what within 5 seconds of powering on.
  
  And if it's possible for you, do a Clear CMOS before starting on the i5 (remove the battery for a few seconds, the charger plug and the battery, then press the Power button to discharge the laptop.
  Reconnect and reinsert everything, and test the i5.

  Hi Cyberium,
  I haven't had time to do my tests these past few days, but I took a chance today and BINGO!
  The core i5 was immediately recognized by the motherboard and the PC is running like a dream!

Piquesous,

I have three "almost identical" CMs, I don't see why this change of processor wouldn't be possible.

  Unless you have a computer that is part of the 0.02% that can be changed.
  Because in many cases, you cannot change the processor or graphics card on a laptop.

  But what you're saying is not very accurate.
  
  As for the CPU, no worries.
  It's just that laptop socket compatibility is less common than that of desktop PCs, but we can definitely change the processor.
  
  Regarding GPUs for the graphics card, it's somewhat logical since it is, in most cases, integrated into the motherboard. Except for MXM cards (and there, we can easily change them, just need to flash the BIOS).
  For a little backstory, just last night, I changed a graphics card on an Acer 9820g (Nvidia XMX) to an ATI... Without any difficulty.

  You just taught me something, I didn't know it was sometimes possible to change the GPU. In my case, it's not possible, integrated GPU on the motherboard ^^

On a almost nothing can be changed on a laptop.
Only the RAM, hard drive, screen, keyboard, and battery can be changed.

Good evening,
the ideal would be to take a look at the manufacturer's side,
and check the BIOS updates.
Very often, you will see an explanatory note regarding the changes in the BIOS updates.
Maybe you will see if your i5 processor is supported or not.

Interestingly, the core i5 I want to install comes from a Satellite Pro L870.
I see in the specifications of the BIOS update for the C870 that this model is also compatible. If they have the same BIOS, does that mean it is possible to install the core i5?

  The i3-2350M processor comes from a C870-112 PSC8FE, the i5-3210M comes from an L870-14G PSKBME (I also have another i5-3230M from an L870-17L PSKFPE).
