Ubuntu: Ethernet connection issue

Solved

Hello,

So here it is, yesterday evening I installed Ubuntu on an IBM computer, I connected it to the internet via an Ethernet cable. Until then, everything was fine, I could browse the internet on Mozilla Firefox without any problems.

However, this morning, after running the computer all night, I noticed that I no longer have internet access.

Let me explain:
- The Wired Network is active: the cable is properly plugged in and detected.
- No action has been taken since the last internet access.
- No way to access the internet regardless of the method.
- No way to detect or access a device related to the computer via Ethernet Network.

I can't seem to recover internet...

If you have a solution to offer, I’m all ears.

Thank you very much!

Sincerely,
Marko

    Good evening,

First of all, thank you for replying.
After many attempts, including the method you proposed (without going through updating Ubuntu)... I simply changed the Ethernet cable for another one, even though it was detected and showed no obvious issues (proof: it worked very well the day before), and the problem disappeared! Don’t ask me why, I won’t be able to tell you. Maybe the cable was damaged at a specific spot and it gave way at some moment during the night? I don’t know...

To conclude, if you have the same problem as me, try changing the Ethernet cable to see if the issue doesn’t come from there. ;)

    Hi,

Restart your box to see, or reset it there, DHCP issue possible, if it still doesn’t work do an Ubuntu update.
