Hello,

I am wondering if the Hyper-V administrator group is a different administrator group from the normal administrators or if it is an administrator group that has the same rights as the administrators but with higher permissions?

Good evening,

The Hyper-V Administrators group is a new local security group. Add users to this group, not to the local Administrators group, to provide them access to Hyper-V. Members of the Hyper-V Administrators group have full and unrestricted access to all features of Hyper-V.

Best regards.

Hello,

Hyper-V is a "virtual machine," a virtual environment that allows simulating one system within another "host" system.
For example: simulating a Windows Phone 8 environment in a Hyper-V virtual environment running on Windows 8, its host (which hosts the environment).

The Hyper-V Administrators group grants additional rights to manage this environment.

Okay, but does switching from regular admin to Hyper-V provide additional rights compared to being a regular admin (apart from the special Hyper-V rights)?

No. As mentioned above: Members of the Hyper-V Administrators group have full and unrestricted access to all Hyper-V features only. They are not local admins.

Best regards.

Thank you, so there is no need for me to change my local admin account to another account to gain additional permissions.

I thank the CCM community and I mark the topic as "Resolved."
