Is that enough? It depends on your usage.
Computers use information in binary form (on or off), which we call a bit (from Binary digIT).
A bit represents 2 possibilities, so we had to find a way to make combinations. Thus we invented the byte (in English Byte), which consists of 8 bits and allows for 256 combinations.
The problem lies in the notations used.
We use an uppercase B for Bytes and a lowercase b for bits.
Next, we have two competing notations that cause confusion.
In computing, we prefer to have kilobytes of 1024 units (2 to the power of 10), whereas the international notation is 1000.
So we have:
The KB (or Ko) which is 1000 bytes
The MB (or Mo) which is 1000 kilobytes
The GB (or Go) which is 1000 megabytes
The TB (or To) which is 1000 gigabytes
The PB (or Po) which is 1000 terabytes (for petabyte)
And we need to differentiate them from the following notation:
The KiB (or Kio) which is 1024 bytes
The MiB (or Mio) which is 1024 kilobytes
The GiB (or Gio) which is 1024 megabytes
The TiB (or Tio) which is 1024 gigabytes
The PiB (or Pio) which is 1024 terabytes
So that's why when you buy a hard drive of 80 GB, the computer shows you a slightly lower size

Sorry for not intervening until several months later, but when I saw the nonsense spouted by DJRelou, I couldn't help myself.
1Go = 1 GB
8GB = 8Go there is no difference except for the language, o = octet in French, and B = byte in English: 1 octet = 1 byte.
However, b = bit and there are 8 bits in an octet or 1 byte.
I doubt Samsung makes a smartphone with 1Go of memory or 8Gb as stated by the requester who, despite his nickname, is not really a bright one.
