WDSClient Error

Hello everyone :)

I'm currently setting up a test deployment server (for now) on Windows Server 2008 (the R2 version will be on the final version of my server)
Today I'm working on a virtual machine (VirtualBox) with a WDS server and a blank client machine.
I have installed the WDS role and then configured it with an ISO of Windows 7 Pro 32-bit SP1.
I then created my automated installation script (using WAIK, Windows Automated Installation Kit) which I then referenced in the WDS settings.
When I start my blank machine, everything starts normally, it boots in PXE and then starts the installation, but an error erupts: "WdsClient: a problem occurred while initializing WDS mode".
I then tested again without the script and the installation starts without any issues, but I must use a script to automate the installation, because otherwise what would be the use of a deployment server.
Could you please give me a little help with this script error :)

Best regards

Hi,

Regarding your problem, without an example of the mentioned script, I'm afraid the information is sparse.

To work around your issue, turn to MDT, and forget about WDS for a bit.

I invite you to focus on MDT, which also relies on WDS for the deployment part.

It’s THE Microsoft deployment tool.

It's "easier" to maintain than constantly remaking your WDS images... (easier when you know the product, it takes quite a while to understand if you don't have much time)

You can use templates based on hardware, etc... drivers, software to install, updates, GPOs to apply during/after deployment (yes, it is possible); integration of an HTA interface and everything....

Focus on this, really, even if it's a big topic, these skills will be useful for you later.
