Change HDD on NAS Medion P89635

Hello,

the hard drive of my Medion NAS has died.
I replaced it with a new hard drive, but the NAS won’t mount it; it recognizes it, but won’t mount it.
I formatted it to NTFS before putting it into the NAS.
Do you know if the formatting could be the cause of my issue?
Should I format it to FAT32?

    Hello,

    It is stated in the manual that it supports all disk format systems:

    Compatible systems and formats
    Your NAS server supports the following file systems, protocols, and applications:
    * TCP/IP network protocol
    * UPNP, built-in DLNA server from Twonky Media
    * iTunes server
    * FTP server
    * Samba server
    * Built-in download manager
    * FAT32, NTFS, EXT2, EXT3, XFS

    As for the Medion P89635, it's a 2 TB disk.

    But the best is to remove the format you used, delete the partition, and simply plug in a blank disk so it can "figure out" how to partition and format it.

      I have the same problem, I deleted all the partitions and it cannot create volumes message: "Unable to create the volume".
      if anyone has found a solution thank you in advance.

      I had called Medion back then, who told me that I needed to return it for after-sales service, because the built-in format was a proprietary memory format.
      I threw everything in the bin and bought a Synology!

        I just changed the hard drive to a 1TB one on a Medion P89635 NAS, here is the procedure I followed:

        - I deleted all the partitions on the disk and initialized it as MBR with Gparted

        - I mounted it in the Medion NAS enclosure, then turned on the NAS and connected it to the network

        - The NAS formatted the disk, created a 500MB partition to save the NAS settings among other things, and an ext2 partition on the rest of the disk

        - It was impossible to create a volume with this configuration

        - I took the disk out of the enclosure after turning it off, reconnected it to a PC, then deleted the ext2 partition and created an ntfs partition on the free space of the disk

        - I reinstalled the disk in the NAS, at that point I was able to create a volume of almost 1TB

        That's the special factory formatting from Medion it seems!
