Reading Canal+ recordings on PC from external hard drive

Hello,
I am considering buying an external hard drive to record on Canal+
but I would like to recover movies on a USB stick to read them on a PC
Is it possible?
I read an answer in the forum about a recorder with a hard drive, but without explanations.

    We cannot play Canal Plus recordings on a PC, as they are encrypted!
