Hello,
My mother has a problem with her PC.
She didn’t make the recovery CDs for her laptop, so reinstalling Windows 7 is going to be difficult!
Moreover, she has photos that she cares about a lot. I don’t know how to recover them for her...
Could you please help me? She is retired and her computer is vital for her.
On Tuesday she cried so much about her PC that she asked my sister to take her to buy another one (but with her retirement of 900€, I’d like to spare her such an expense).
Here is the problem:
The computer starts up normally, Windows 7 loads up to “Starting Windows…” with the color Windows window loading, loading, loading… for nothing
If I restart the PC, it offers me to “Launch System Restore (recommended)” or “Start Windows Normally.” So I choose to start Windows normally: again the infinite Windows loading...
If I agree to launch the System Restore tool: “Windows loads the files,” then after a second I see the Windows bar appear and disappear immediately… Then nothing. Black screen.
When I press F8, several options are displayed:
- Repair Your Computer
- Safe Mode
- Safe Mode with Networking
- Command Prompt in Safe Mode
Regarding “Safe Mode,” it shows lots of files loaded from system32/<drivers> up to “Classpnp.sys.” It then says “Please Wait,” and nothing more.
Regarding the Repair option, I had tried “Repair Your Computer” from that menu... but I get a black screen.
Regarding “Command Prompt in Safe Mode,” the result is the same as “Safe Mode”:
The computer loads many files from: “Windows\system32\drivers\”
Then it loads last “Windows\system32\drivers\Classpnp.sys” and tells me “Please Wait” for five minutes… then a blue screen appears for 2 seconds.
The laptop then restarts and presents me with “Launch System Restore (recommended)” or “Start Windows Normally.”
Please help me… A big thank you in advance.</drivers>

I heard about this problem around me with 2 people, and tonight for me it’s the same ... ( Virus? ). The last thing I installed yesterday is tadada: "a Java update" ? Could this Java junk be the cause?
I’ll try your solution and I’ll let you know...

Well,
If it starts, immediately create your restoration DVDs and copy personal data to an external drive. It can recur. The hard drive is probably fragile, and it’s better to prepare recovery or reinstallation tools, in case you need to replace it someday.
1. Create factory reinstall DVds from the Acer eRecovery program (Programs - Acer): https://fr.answers.acer.com/app/error/error_id/1/session/L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xNjA3NDI2NzY5L2dlbi8xNjA3NDI2NzY5L3NpZC9mVXh1X1p4cVpMWG5iQU5obVdqVkF3YWlSa29kclhHZDE3Y2dySlFGMFdfeFRUanlFcV9RZlIxeDYwJTdFcTFkYlRGb0F6a2NQeXBIWklsYnF2RzZTbk54UUZ5czYlN0V6Qk9lY3gzdVMyS1ZHcWVreE4yUjg4ZWVNdDdBJTIxJTIx

Good, short-lived good news! 2 days after my departure, the PC stopped working again!
Now it shows
"PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting Broadcom PXE ROM
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key"
If I put the CD for mini XP, it works.
I’m repeating what I did last time but it doesn’t finish...
I read on the internet that it could be the HDD that’s dead. How can I tell?
Thanks in advance for the help

Thank you for your help.
There, everything has been unplugged and the battery removed. I kept holding the power button for more than 30 seconds but there’s no change.

Hello,
You will download Hiren's BootCD.
On the same site, there is a tutorial to create a bootable CD. When it's done, you boot the PC directly from it and launch Mini XP. You will then be able to access the hard drive folders and save the data to an external disk. After that, we'll see about troubleshooting.

I have 3 sections:
Hard Disk Drives (there are 4: RamDrive / SYSTEM RESERVED / Local Disk / Mini Xp)
Devices with Removable Storage (there are 2: Removable Disk / HBCD 15.2)
Control Panel
I suppose you have to choose one of the 4 Hard Disk Drives (I tend to think of Local Disk)

Start by doing one first thing... unplug everything connected to the PC... remove the battery and the charger, and press the power button for 30 seconds to discharge residual current, then try again (with just the charger, then with both).
If it still behaves that way, we'll first look at how to recover the files. Does the PC have a DVD drive or not?

I’ll let it run, but it seems very long (the PC shows several minutes).
Otherwise, is there a way to recover the data (photos) from my mother’s PC? If so, how? If I connect the two PCs by USB, can I access the hard drive of the problematic PC from mine?

I burned the CD. It doesn’t start. I went into the BIOS to set the CD-ROM drive as the first boot device but I’m not really sure...
I have 6 items:
1. IDE0: Hitachi HTS547575A9E384
2. IDE1: HL-DT-STDVDRAM GT32N
3. USB FDD:
4. Network Boot: LEGACY PCI DEVICE
5. USB HDD:
6. USB CDROM:
I logically set 6. USB CDROM as first but it doesn’t work.
Which drive is it according to you?
Thanks again
